Modern setting, same timeline as ours.
›› PLANE OF EXISTENCES
Kattenan is not a Multiverse, there’s one single universe strictly speaking. However, there are several “planes” of existence within this one single universe.
You can picture it like layers : The main one is the physical plane of existence, but above and under it are other planes that only certain creatures can access. Some inhabitant can travel from a layer to another, or create other layers.
Most people are locked into their native plane of existence and will never get to visit another. People and creatures known for being able to shift existence plane :
Spirits and ethereal beings : They mostly live locked in-between two planes, or are anchored to a plane different than the physical one.
Fairies : Most fairies can travel to their own kingdom in an alternative plane of existence. That include Seelie and Unseelie court fairies.
Demons : Most demons can travel from a plane to another.
Powerful magic users (especially warlocks and demonologists) : They can rarely travel from a plane to another, but are sometimes able to affect another plane, or to create one.
Others (...) : Some other creatures have access to different plane of existence : Deities, or even creatures who evolved to live between planes. They are terribly rare are rarely spotted on the physical plane though.

›› INHABITANTS
Most of Kattenan’s inhabitants are humans. They are a wide majority, however many creatures exist, such as mythological creatures, hybrids, monsters… It’s been proven some deities exist, but they don’t usually are witnessed by any mortal.
