LikesSkillsBest Traits
  • Food of all sorts, particularly jelly donuts.
  • Deeply admires Pokemon trainers.
  • Pretty much everything even remotely interesting
  • Painting
  • Doesn't need a "reference" while transforming, and can give herself a human appearance that she makes up on the spot.
  • Can communicate wordlessly with Pokemon.
  • She's stretchy and squishy, with a consistency like silly putty.
  • In the case of emergency, she's a very high level ditto and is just as strong as the pokemon she trains. She doesn't want to blow her cover, though.
  • Paints nature scenes as a side-hobby.
  • Significantly stronger and faster than a human even while disguised as one.
  • Ambitious and self-confident. Her goal is to be both the Pokemon champion, and a champion for Pokemon.
  • Clever and observant, knows she comes across as weird and harmless and takes advantage of it.
  • When it comes to actual fighting, she's practically a pacifist. Definitely not afraid to throw down, but is strongly predisposed to finding a peaceful solution that others wouldn't consider.
DislikesWeaknessesWorst Traits
  • Anything boring.
  • Adverse to communicating / learning how to communicate in any way besides body language / facial expressions / basic gestures.
  • Gligars and Gliscors: she has a tramautic fear of them.
  • Not having her glasses
  • The cold
  • Always weighs 90 pounds; transforming into a larger form leaves her not very dense.
  • Can't shapeshift her insides (blood and organs, but most notably bones).
  • Even though you'd expect her jelly body to resist bludgeoning impact, her "human" form is considered normal type, leaving her vulnerable to fighting damage.
  • Has poor vision; there's a reason why she continues to wear glasses in ditto form. This means that changing into a form too large to wear glasses can hurt her fighting ability.
  • Can't speak. Doesn't know how / refuses to write or use sign language.
  • Very spacy and easily distracted.
  • Super stubborn; it's impossible to keep her paying attention to anything she doesn't want to pay attention to.
  • If she wants to go somewhere and you try to grab her arm to stop her, her arm is just gonna s t r e t c h instead.
  • Does want she wants to do, not what she needs to do.

Personality

Pinky is whimsical and playful to a fault. She pretty much always wears a smile, or an expression of wide-eyed fascination with her surroundings. She will never sit still; wandering around with excited, exaggerated movements from one thing to the next, drinking in the sights and sounds of both new and familiar experiences with equal and absolute vigor. Her eccentric personality and inability to communicate her thoughts has others thinking she behaves randomly and erratically, but there is definite motivation behind her actions; whether its because she's noticed something useful, or if she just wants to get away from a boring situation. Pinky can be really mischevious, taking advantage of other's assumptions about her to win battles, or just mess with them for fun. She works really hard to cultivate her mysterious image, wanting people to see just how much more there is to her than meets the eye, without revealing what those secrets are. Nothing irritates a person more when after defeating them, she breaks from her wide-eyed smile to flash a dastardly smirk.

Pinky is extremely optimstic, self-assured, and confident. Almost nothing can dissuade her, and she rushes headfirst into dangerous circumstances with unwavering faith in the abilities of herself and her own pokemon. Her inability to communicate makes others think she's just blindly blustering in, which can cause huge problems even when she truthfully knows what she's doing. Once people learn to have faith in her, this problem goes away, but it'd go away faster if she was willing to share her thought process with others in the first place. While she generally knows her limitations fairly well, it can happen sometimes that she overestimates herself or underestimates the danger. Ultimately this can humble her, but she's usually got a trick or two up her sleeve to prevent the consquences from being TOO harsh.

Pinky's most tragic flaws are her stubbornness and general lackadaisical attitude; these traits set Pinky up for disaster on the odd chance she's ever significantly in over her head.

Backstory

Pinky grew up in a route resembling Dallol Volcano; an acidic wasteland of intense heat that looks like an alien world. The route is Inhabited by pokemon such as gulpin, tentacruel, macargo, miniors, and of course, dittos. It was a pretty hazardous place that trainers looking to head for that region's elite four would have to pass through. As a child, Pinky, knew very little of the surrounding area, and only had passing knowledge of pokemon trainers and what they stood for. Things changed when a strong, wild gliscor rampaged through the route, injuring many pokemon including Pinky. It might have been the end for her, but a pokemon trainer showed up, defeated the gliscor, and caught it.

Usually, a pokemon will attack pokemon trainers as a way of testing their status as a trainer. It's their instinctual goal to get caught by a masterful trainer who can raise them to their peak potential. The day that mysterious trainer caught the gliscor, many pokemon in the region had an epiphinous moment and began trying to get caught. Pinky, however, was a bit of an oddity. While she also developed mad respect for pokemon trainers, instead of being caught by one, she wanted to BECOME one.

Pinky began wandering the route, interrupting fights between wild pokemon and trying to start bossing the underdog around, in an attempt to emulate what a trainer does. More often than not, this annoyed and confused the pokemon and Pinky would be left alone and frustrated. It wasn't until she started to use her status as a ditto to disguise as a human that her luck turned around. Almost instantly, she befriended a machop in a neighboring region; her first pokemon.

Pinky continued her pokemon adventure, training her machop into a machamp. She even befriended a few other trainers; her apparent lack of name inspired one of them to "nickname" her Pinky, a nickname that stuck. At one point during her adventure, Pinky suffered a loss that had her really discouraged, to the point of depression. One of her friends recognized the symptoms of burnout, and encouraged her to find a side hobby. Pinky began painting, a new passion that totally consumed her for a couple months. Her mood improved significantly, and between that and all her pokemon itching for fights, she resumed her original goal with a renewed passion.

It would take her a long time to fully master the art of pokemon battling, but her quirky, mysterious nature, and apparent ability to silently command pokemon in a battle put her in the public eye; and that fame grew as she began to collect gym badges and battle the region's local villain team.

Trivia
  • Bulbapedia says dittos weigh 9 pounds normally but "canon" pokemon weights are kinda B.S. and flakey. Pinky weighs 90 pounds even in her tiny ditto form (making it super dense) and her weight does not change with her size (meaning her human form is much lighter than it appears)
  • She does actually know a few sign language words. She refused to put up with lessons, wandering off and such. In an emergency she will use one but she's otherwise adverse to all forms of communication besides body language / facial expressions / basic gestures.
  • Despite being a ditto, she's stupidly overpowered and is pretty much able to beat any other pokemon one on one and go toe to toe with legendaries. The stakes in her story are at their lowest when she's in a one on one fight.
  • The stakes in her story are more about the pokemon she trains getting defeated, or about threats to her that don't involve fighting; meshing with human society, struggling with her inability to communicate, or potentially having her status as a Secret Ditto made public.
  • Pinky had no real concept of gender as a kid. The trainer that rescued Pinky was a dude, and initially Pinky's human appearance strongly resembled him. Eventually, Pinky realized that despite the respect she has for this dude, she much prefers being a girl, and devised a new form appropriately.
  • She's primarily made up of cytoplasm, but does have a membrane. Just because she can shapeshift doesn't mean she can instantly heal injuries; if you cut her open that wound will remain no matter what form she takes, and the cytoplasm lost will need to be replaced. Punching her will damage her membrane, especially if she can't cushion the impact in time. Severing a limb will hurt her badly, and she could potentially die from cytoplasm loss if the wound remains open.
  • If you cut off her head, she'll remain standing, but if you cut off an arm or a leg, she'll lose consciousness almost instantly. She'd need immediate medical attention regardless.
  • She's aro/ace but she has a very strong aesthetic attraction towards girls, and gets especially wide-eyed around them.
  • Her stretchyness is less like Mr Fantastic and more like Luffy. She can't  just casually extend her arm across a room, she needs to throw her arm  out with force, or grab onto something and pull.
  • Also, despite being pretty elastic, she's nowhere near as elastic as Luffy. She can stretch her arm out about 10 feet but that's her limit; any further and it could snap, so it's dangerous to even come close to that level of stretching.
  • Her clothes aren't part of her body. She's really good at slipping in and out of them while transforming, without flashing anyone.
  • 🅱️oneless.
  • She doesn't have lungs or a heart, but is decent at imitating breathing and heartbeats. It's bones she struggles with.
  • The amount of times Pinky subtly bends or stretches in an unnatural way is unacceptably high, but she's managed to keep it subtle enough that people don't notice... consciously.
  • Detective Pikachu Spoilers:
  • This character was made before Detective Pikachu came out, and is not inspired by Ms. Norman.

Accepted Headcanons (stuff in bold is additions / changes by me)

  • Whenever Pinky has to avoid something she doesn't want to do she just  shapeshifts and hides. like, someone calls her and says , "oh Pinky,  it's time to do Pokemon Taxes," and she turns into a cactus or smtng.   (it's probably around ppl she really trusts since she doesn't wanna  give away her disguise n stuff)

the thing is, since she can't get rid of the glasses (and her clothes are left on a pile on a floor), it's usually a  dead giveaway to where she is, and it's more of an act of straight up  defiance rather than a disguise. firebuug
  • At first, whenever Pinky doesn't use a "reference" for transforming into a human,  her new appearance usually falls into the "uncanny valley" and is deemed  unsettling by real humans. Nowadays she only needs a mirror. frog-s
