Kyle Liu is someone who feels consistently out of place. Born in South Korea, his parents moved to the US when he was young, and between his racial status and his own nascent anxiety, his comfort in social situations is usually fraught at best. That being said, he hides his uncertainties well; he's usually front and center of any social group he finds himself in, and as worried as he tends to be about other people's perception of him, making other people feel happy and safe is a major source of joy.

Presentation is very important in his eyes; his hair is consistently cut short, and his casual outfits rarely fail to accommodate dress shirts and sweater vests. That being said, outside of the public eye, he generally keeps his demeanor laid-back, and keeping things organized is rarely a major concern; he's more than ready to frantically clean at a moment's notice, though, and since Leah and Trixie started living with him, things have gradually become more generally tidy.

Kyle takes naturally to school environments, since they give him an easy structure to follow, and tends to do very well academically -- not without some stress, though, as his time management outside of the classroom can be inconsistent. Consequently, after graduating with a bachelor's in mechanical engineering, he decided to stay in school for postgraduate study rather than trying to enter the workforce right away, and is now working on his engineering Ph.D at JHU. He hasn't really put much thought into his future beyond school, though; he's much more inclined to go with the flow and see what happens.

While he swears it wasn't intentional on his part, he finds it hilarious that he ended up as a raven going to school in Baltimore, and uses the joke as an icebreaker perhaps too often. He only maintains a casual interest in sports, though -- usually supporting DC teams, much to the chagrin of most of his classmates.
