Ouray Nerau's Links
After Ouray died, they eventually reincarnated into him! Ouray still sort of exists in Dicro's subconscious as a fragment of his soul, embodying his soul's memories of life as Ouray. That's not exactly living, per se, but it's worth noting!
One of Dicro's previous lives. Dicro is aware of their existence thanks to his soul/subconscious-diving exploits, and... well, he's noticed that he takes after them in more ways than he'd care to admit...
One of their previous adventuring companions! They were fairly friendly back in the day, but honestly they were mostly connected by Langer. Once he was gone, all they had was their memories of him to keep them together. This led to them beginning a somewhat half-hearted relationship, almost in honor of Langer, and while they had several children their bond never really strengthened that much. LaPlata just didn't have the heart to get closer to anyone, and Ouray didn't have the means to "fix" that.
They didn't regret being together with her by any means, but both of them were well aware that they were just trying to fill up a void left by someone they couldn't replace.
One of the first humans she ever met or became close to. Up until Langer's disappearance they were just sort of acquainted, mostly brought together by Langer. After Langer vanished, however, LaPlata wound up clinging to Ouray for comfort, seeing them as all they had left of Langer. Ouray didn't seem to mind, so the two wound up in a strange sort of relationship built entirely on a mutual longing for Langer's return. The two had several children and struggled to care for them as though they were really her own, especially as Ouray became increasingly disinterested in living.
After Ouray's death, she felt she had nothing anchoring her to anything and drifted away from her family before long, wandering the world and quietly wishing for a return to those brief but happy days that they were all together.
A fantastic person! From the moment Ouray laid eyes on Zhirael they adored him. He was so dark, intense, malevolent, threatening... completely awesome, in other words! Completely lacking any fear toward him (quite the opposite, actually), Ouray was the one who always pushed for the group to keep bothering him. They didn't hesitate to give up their eye for the purposes of encouraging further interaction, and as they lay dying their only wish was to see him once again.
Even if their contract went awry, they wouldn't have minded having their soul just going back to Zhirael. They wouldn't have given it to him if they didn't trust him with it, after all.
A former pain in his side. They, Khazael, Langer, and LaPlata spent years pestering him and taking his things, and Ouray encouraged their partners to continue doing so with gusto.
...But he's glad. Ouray's persistence led to Zhirael making his first real connections with others, his first friends. The time he spent with them and their companions was invaluable to him, and he always enjoyed the group's company. They were a gateway into something far grander for him... and so, even though it was Ouray's last wish, potentially pushing Ouray into nonexistence pained him. After losing Langer, losing Ouray as well was a hard blow that led to him reconsidering the relationships that demons and humans were "meant" to have.
He currently has no idea that they've reincarnated into one of Bonnie's friends, though if he were to find out it would undoubtedly be cathartic to him to know that a little piece of them still lives on, that their contract didn't take them away so much as it allowed Ouray to find an entirely new way of existing - just as they had hoped for.
Their best pal! The coolest dude they know!! Ouray and Langer became friends at a very young age, and Langer was the only other human who ever really gelled with them. Most people were scared off pretty faced by Khazael, and if that didn't get them then Ouray's personality usually finished the job. Langer, though... he took them for all that they were and said it was all cool! For the longest time, Langer was the only friend they had (not counting Khazael) and the only friend they really needed. He was a great foil to them and stayed by their side through thick and thin.
After Langer disappeared they were devastated, even though they tried not to show it. Langer was such a huge part of their life for such a long time that everything afterward didn't quite feel like living. They liked LaPlata and Zhirael a lot, too, but... without Langer, things just weren't the same.
As they made their final wish on their deathbed, they secretly hoped that by barring their soul from Heaven and Hell alike, maybe they would end up wherever Langer went. And, well... it took a while, but they weren't wrong!
His best friend! They've been friends since they were kids, so needless to say Langer cares a lot about them. Yeah, Ouray tended to scare them a lot and their morbid sense of humor was just a tiny bit uncomfortable, but overall Ouray was always close to his heart and Langer always knew they were a good person.
He has no idea that they're long dead and has since reincarnated into someone he knows, but it's not like he'd assume they'd still be alive after all these years... with Khazael he's sure that would've been possible, but Ouray always expressed that it wouldn't be much fun living forever without Langer at their side.
"'Defend Dicro's subconscious from intruders who mean him ill?' You mean indiscriminately attack and kill everyone who walks in? You got it, boss!"
What a fun life that was. A shame it ended in such tragedy, but... it was a life well worth living. Ouray is a bit troublesome to wrangle in the realm of their collective subconscious, however...
They are PRETTY sure they should've killed him. He's a primo danger to lil old Dicro, isn't he? C'moooon, just a little stabby stab?
