Charles Kleiner was a man who was obsessed with vampires for his entire life. For 35 years he fed his passion, feeling as though his true self would only come to fruition if he became the creature he was so fascinated with. Through underground channels and secretive word of mouth, Charles discovered there was a small town in the southwest that was rumored to have a high concentration of paranormal activity, vampires being one of many monsters that apparently roamed that area. He set off immediately to investigate, dreams of becoming an undying, beautiful creature of the night dancing in his head. 

Upon arriving in the small town of Emerald Lake, Charles immediately hiked to the forest to camp out, figuring the best chances of him finding a vampire would be in the area where darkness remained even during the day. He spent some time in there, bumping into several creatures and phenomenon that nearly scared him to return back to whence he came. After almost 3 weeks, he decides that he can't stand to stay in the forest any longer and prepares to pack up and leave. It is that last night that he finally meets the creature he had been searching for for his entire life. Unfortunately, the meeting isn't anything like he pictured in his mind. The vampire tears out his throat and rips into his flesh violently, making poor Charles' last minutes as a mortal the most terrifying and painful he had ever experienced. With his last breath, he begs the vampire to turn him. The creature, surprised at his question after his ravaging, laughs. But they comply with this last request and turn him, stating that they were now his master. With that, the creature vanishes, leaving Charles to fade away into his new life.

Waking up several days later, Charles is confused and fearful, shocked at his current state. His transformation felt and looked almost nothing like he had imagined. He truly was monstrous. He spends the next couple of months remaining in the forest, trying to cope and come to terms with what he had become. Eventually, he moves into a hotel in the actual town of Emerald lake and he stays there for some time, realizing that deciding to become a vampire in the middle of a desert was probably not the brightest idea in the world. He was trapped, so he decided to make the best of it and ended up moving into a house there and worked as an accountant from home.

He now spends his days trying to live out his vampire dreams, making his lifestyle as close as he can to his nocturnal idols as possible. In any other place he would stand out horribly, but in the quirky town of Emerald Lake, he is just another character among many and has a relatively quiet and pleasant life, despite the reality of being undead not quite matching what he had in his head.

Charles' personality is quite dramatic, he is very theatrical with his stereotypical vampire behaviors. He loves to indulge in his fantasy and craves for everyone to revere and fear him. At the same time though, he is very social and loves gossiping, having guests over and hosting parties. He's a bit vain and is a sucker for having his ego stroked, especially if you compliment how vampire-ish he is. 

His hobbies include midnight gardening, getting manicures, hosting brunches and taking walks in the nearby woods.
