Profile
Created sometime in the 26th century, .Z01 was made to embody the Soong-type androids that became so prominent aboard starships like the Enterprise. He was somebody's friend and assistant, using his programmed skills to help with a wide array of tasks. On one particular encounter, while playing the role of bodyguard, .Z01 ends up transported across space and time. This sudden voyage wreaks HAVOC on his mechanical body. He was now in the late 23rd century, disoriented, and on... the Enterprise. But an older version of it, headed by Captain James T. Kirk. Faced with huge gaps in his memory and too many technical errors to count, .Z01—now going by 'Zip'—tries his damndest to get his bearings. He is not very good at blending in.
Zip quickly realizes that there is something very wrong about his circuits. He can feel, something he was only able to vaguely emulate before. It's deeply unpleasant. Most of his emotions are negative ones: distress, panic, irritation. He keeps to himself and does custodial work out of the prying eyes of those in command, finding a niche to slot into and avoiding questions for as long as possible. Until he's noticed, of course. He doesn't have a room or an official file—nothing. He "sleeps" in storage closets and keeps his head low. When he's discovered, the assumption is immediately made that he's a straggler somehow. There are no logs of him getting onboard via the transporter room but—surely he got in some other way. His pale, artificial complexion does raise some questions, but nothing he can't weather or dodge with awkward silence. That Zip is good at. He can't remember half of what or when he came from. It's about as jumbled as his wires.
With some proper identification (the crew was always the kindly sort), he becomes a valuable asset to the engineering team. He can do lots of miscellaneous tasks, but his dry humor and blunt demeanor makes him a welcomed part of the team. He never thought he would feel at ease being around these people, so far into the past, but he does. It's a welcome change of pace.
Zip, like his namesake, is fairly speedy. Frightens easily like a rabbit. He doesn't like how jumpy he's become.
Naturally drawn to music. It makes his circuits buzz pleasantly.
Uhura has taken a sort of liking to the guy. She doesn't know that he's an android, just that he's a little weird. It's reciprocated. Zip doesn't understand that he has a crush.
If this guy had a gender/orientation he'd be a dyke. Btw.
