Polly is a bubbly, sentient ray of sunshine who prefers to see the best in the world. He also has sharp enough business sense to run his own shop, staffed almost entirely by pokémon.

He was born the only child of a single mother in Alola. Being the whitest kid on the island, Polly always felt like a bit of an outcast. During his childhood, he spent a lot of his free time studying to be a legendary pokémon trainer, and he honestly got pretty good. It wasn't until he got his first job at a Pokécenter that he started to consider the less ethical side of pokémon battling. At that point, Polly turned a bit from battling and got heavily involved in pokémon rescues.

When he was 17, Polly's mother grew ill. They were forced to uproot and resettle in Galar, where his mother was from, to live with an aunt. Now that Polly physically fit in, his effeminate manner and sexuality were suddenly the problem. He was transferred to work at a Galarian Pokécenter and worked one season as a Challenge fairy gym trainer. Where once he had dreamed to be Gym Leader, he now found his interest in battling disappearing.

After Polly's mother passed, it became clearer than ever that he was not welcome in his aunt's house. Using the money his mother left him, he moved out to a small apartment. After a trip with his best friend to visit Kanto, he was struck with the idea of starting his own mochi shop. He didn't feel particularly Alolan or Galarian, and he certainly wasn't Kantoan, so he decided to follow his own desires. Within a few years, Polly had opened Bochi, a successful mochi and boba tea shop in Motostoke. He employs mostly pokémon, and helps them gain experience by using their battle moves in a work setting. Polly is also stll very active in the Poké Rescue community.
