Benji Lucero

The embodiment of 90 pounds soaking wet, Benji is a tiny guy and skinny as a rail. It is not an accomplishment to weigh more or be taller than him. Benji is deeply self conscious of his appearance. He does have several large dark birthmarks. As far as most people are aware, the only ones he has are one on the right side of his face that goes from the corner of his jaw to the edge of his eyebrow then into his hairline, and one that covers his left hand.

Benji is not an expressive person; his face rarely shows how he is feeling. People often think he looks sad due to resting expression. His half-lidded dark eyes only add to this. Benji constantly wears a hat and tips his head downwards when others are talking to him to keep people from asking him why he looks so upset. Consequently, his dark curly hair always looks a mess because of his hat. He’s just stuck with hat hair at this point.

Life is unfair. Though, as far as Benji is concerned, it has been especially unfair to him. Benji feels firmly that he has been dealt almost nothing but bad hands since birth. The few good things he does have going for him can be easily taken away and he is viciously aware of it. He is angry at the world and doesn’t like that he isn’t sure of his place in it.

Benji hates himself and wishes he didn’t feel the inherent need to think deeply about every damn thing that happens to him. Though, as much as Benji dislikes himself, he refuses to simply let others influence how his feelings. Only he can be mean to himself. No one else. He's not impervious to well-aimed insults and disparaging words can still get to him. Benji does his best to never show how much someone has hurt him, but will cry about it later in private. He is used to being treated as lesser due to both his appearance and the way he speaks. Due to this, he lets his best friend, Alder, do most of his talking for him as people tend to take Alder more seriously.

He rarely forgives people he is mad at. They have to apologize first and due to Benji hardly talking to anyone, it can be hard to catch that he is upset with you. He is the champion of being petty. He is more than willing to take revenge on people that wrong him usually through small secretive means. He has also never once fought fair in his life and doesn't ever plan on starting. To him, fighting fair is for "people taller and stupider" than him. Benji is skittish around others and is slow to warm up to new people. That being said he's an absolute fool for any sort of praise and it's way too easy to use this against him.

• Has a bad lisp that does get less severe as he gets older mainly because he went from saying a handful of words a week to rambling to Alder for hours. Benji has gotten into the bad habit of not listening to people when Alder is around since he knows that people rarely acknowledge him and Alder will always summarize the conversation afterwards for him.
