Personality
Cynthia is majestic, serious, and has a good head on her shoulders. After all, she’s been running this place for the past few hundred years. Everyone respects her; heads turn as she sweeps into a room wearing her customary scowl and nobody dares get on her bad side. Cynthia is also very pragmatic about everything, especially while ruling. If it’s not useful, why hang onto it? This mentality has often led to days when useless politicians get fired in excess, which isn’t always useful.
Cynthia is also a chessmaster and master manipulator. She’s always planning about 10 steps ahead of everyone else and has a plan for almost any outcome. Don’t expect to get the whole truth from her - she won’t tell you anything. Indeed, nobody actually has the whole truth, not even those who are close to her.
People would expect Cynthia to be a lonely sort of person. After all, she’s been living for a very long time. However, she’s actually not - she’s super detached from most interaction and has stopped caring. Being an immortal means that she doesn’t really need the companionship others do. That’s not to say Cynthia doesn’t enjoy being around people - she does have a few that she likes to be around. However, because most everyone dies in the end she doesn’t tend to make very many attachments.
Doing the same thing for eternity is boring. So, Cynthia likes to spice it up by playing pranks and generally causing havoc behind the scenes. Whether it’s turning Anira into a two-legged form or setting up a fake murder, she always gets a kick out of everything. She’s lost the ability to care for individuals, so what if she hurt someone? It doesn’t matter to her.
Design Notes
- Cynthia will wear basically anything, although she has a preference for pants over skirts. She still will wear skirts though. She prefers darker tones and pastels over neons and other, more saturated colors.
- Cynthia does in fact have dewclaws on her legs.
- The ribbon on Cynthia’s tail has a lot of meaning and she barely ever takes it off. It’s akin to a wedding ring.
- Cynthia is very stoic in her expressions and doesn’t change her face from her typical grumpy scowl except for around certain people.
Trivia
- Cynthia is significantly taller than most other people in the Golden Isles, which is one of many reason that people are terrified of her.
- The only reason Cynthia even keeps her job is because she feels like there’s no one else qualified to do what she’s been doing for hundreds of years. She’s particular like that.
- Cynthia is one of two triple-typed Chrysticons, and consequently one of two worshiped gods of the Golden Isles.
- Cynthia has no living pets, but she does have some hologram creatures that she’s kept up because they live longer than animals.
- Cynthia is, in fact, immortal.
History
Nobody suspected anything when Cynthia was born. Despite the fact that she had gems, horns, and wings, she seemed perfectly normal. Sure she was powerful, but you know what that’s fine.
Cynthia grew up interested in politics, so it was no surprise that as an adult she ran for president - for life. It took her a couple of tries, but she won. Despite the struggle she had as a newbie, she quickly established herself as someone who could rule and who could rule well.
And then she stopped aging. Nobody else had ever done that. People tried to kill her and failed. After a series of medical exams, it was determined that she was an immortal and with extreme power to boot.
As an immortal in a “for life” position, Cynthia had to figure out what to do. Did she abdicate? Did she stay? What to do, what to do. It took Cynthia ten years to deliberate, and eventually she decided that she might was well stay because nobody else would be able to do the same job the way she could.
So she stayed. And so much has happened over her life that she can’t even remember it all.

Cynthia and Anira have a very odd relationship. They could either be married and in love or manipulating each other for some ulterior motive. No one, not even them, can tell which. At any rate, Cynthia seems to adore Anira and trusts her with much more than anyone else. Anira in return hasn’t eaten Cynthia yet and is a good partner for Cynthia’s absolute tomfoolery. While they’re both terrified of each other’s great power, they still spend a lot of time together. Perhaps Anira’s long life is good for Cynthia.
Cynthia trusts Galen to make important judgements for the Golden Isles. They don’t talk much, but Galen has proved themself to be a valuable asset. Because Galen is a reliable person despite their youth, Cynthia is able to delegate them more tasks than otherwise. This lets Cynthia relax just a little bit more. Galen appreciates the work and also appreciates not being forced into conversation with her.
Although Cynthia doesn’t really believe in prophecy and only keeps an Augur around for tradition’s sake, she has to admit that Niamh is really good at predicting things. Not in the “this is what really happens next” way but more of the “there’s a lot higher chance of this happening than this” way. As such, Cynthia enjoys having him as an advisor.
Cynthia is a little weirded out by the fact that Cael leads the religion that worships her. However, as she has been elevated to the status of god, Cynthia has just shrugged and given in. Thankfully, Cael isn’t creepy about it and actually asks Cynthia in person for things instead of expecting prayers to work. They’re really nice about it and don’t pry into her personal life. It’s a good relationship.
