D O U B T

An unsettling bovid creature with skeletal markings that oozes a thick tar-like substance from it's jawless skull and gaping neck. The dripping seems to defy gravity, and even inclines towards other creatures that get too close. The substance stains living flesh black upon contact, and blights the victim with crippling doubt and paranoia that lasts as many weeks as it takes the baneful mark to fade. Afraid of incurring Doubt's temporary but debilitating curse, most villagers tend to avoid this poor dejected beast.
Doubt can speak, but how it manages is a mystery. Its wavering voice is peppered with gurgles and sniffles. It is constantly second-guessing itself, and is never sure of anything it says. Its memory is abysmal, so don't expect it to remember much; even if it does recall something correctly it has such little faith in itself that it will believe the information to be incorrect. It has very low self-esteem, and it sobs uncontrollably at the sight of its own reflection; in fact, a lot of things seem to prompt this reaction, and when it's upset it seems to generate dangerous amounts of black sludge, so be careful to keep your distance.
