Francis is a shy, old man trapped in a monstrous body. He lives out his days in the wreck of a beached, worn down ship, looking upwards to the city and wondering if he'll ever gather the courage to say hello. He is self conscious of his appearance and generally only walks the lonely beach during the night, with only the stars to keep him company.

Perhaps calling him “alone” would be a misnomer. While he fears the rejection of other people, he's made friends with the local children, who routinely visit him during the early hours of night to listen to his stories and feel the security of his kindness. Because of his nighttime visitors, he does his best to keep his abandoned wreck of a home safe for anyone who'd come by, and on entering you'd find colourful blankets and clothe hanging from the ceilings, soft materials covering sharp edges, and pillows everywhere.

Francis adores children and gleans great happiness from their happiness. He uses his limited magical prowess to keep them entertained in the form of conjuring lights and small illusions. His home is kept lit with the warmth of floating orbs he sustains through kindness alone. Often, children leave with little keepsakes clutched like beautiful treasures in their hands: papercraft stars, cranes, and other beautiful things.

Though Francis is afraid of the outside world, he fails to realize the city he's afraid of is already aware of his presence, and would welcome him with open arms if he'd only come say hi.

Only time will tell when he'll go on the greatest adventure yet: the journey of acceptance.
