Name: Lumiere

Name meaning: light
Nicknames? He prefers to just go by his full name.

Gender: male
Species and/or specific breed: winged fox ghost
Age: he actually doesn't know, but time flies when it doesn't affect you, you know?
"Birthday": the 1st of April

Personality: Lumiere is probably the most energetic, ridiculous, fun-loving person you'll ever meet. He was created to be the 'master trickster' and this is evident in every part of him. He walks with a constant spring in his step - or more often glides upside-down - he enters rooms by floating through walls - his smile is ever-present. He almost always is humming some tune he's either heard or made up, and he cannot sit still, no matter how hard he tries. These are just a few of the many strange quirks he has.
When he's out in public, he always wants desperately to be the center of attention. He has quite the ego and quite the pride in himself and what he can do, and wants the whole world to know about it. He's certainly not afraid to show off to get them to see that. He tends to exaggerate mostly everything he does, and since he shows off so often this has turned into what he does in everything - his voice is loud, his hand (paw?) gestures are loud, even his thoughts are loud.
He is incredibly creative, and not just when coming up with new prank ideas (though that's definitely a big part of it). Pretty much any problem in need of a solution can be solved by Lumiere, as long as he is given enough time.
He is entirely unused to being sad - his creator saw no need for him to ever feel that way and did not put it into the spell (perhaps the wizard thought that Lumiere wouldn't last long enough for it) and whenever he does get sad everything feels horribly wrong. He hates getting into such sad moods and is willing to do almost anything to make himself feel happy and normal again. Often at these times his most elaborate pranks occur, the ones that can usually cheer him up for months.
He is, the majority of the time, incapable of being serious (another thing that wizard overlooked). In fact, negative emotions in general are very unfamiliar and confusing to him, so much so that to those who have seen him for more than a day or two, he can seem quite a bit one-sided. It can be quite a bit annoying to hang out with someone who is persistently energetic and cheerful. Lumiere doesn't mind this, though - he wasn't created to be a grumpy ghost, and would hate to be one anyway.
His best friend is a slightly quieter wolf called Merle who also loves pranks. The two go everywhere together, and Lumiere really loves having someone to share all the fun with.

History/Background:
It is said that, many hundreds of years ago, there were two mighty wizards who absolutely despised each other. Each went to great ends to annoy the other, and though after many years of pranks back and forth they could no longer remember how their fight had begun, they continued it anyway. It was tradition.
One day, the elder of the two wizards completed a spell that had taken him months to plan for.

"...I call and create you now, master trickster! Awaken!"
Lumiere had never existed, and suddenly he did. It was quite a fascinating change, and though it took him a few moments to adjust, he slowly saw and heard for the first time. The wizard, standing triumphant in front of him, was speaking, but Lumiere didn't pay attention. He already knew who he was.
...A master trickster! Oh, yes, without a doubt he could already tell this was true. More prank ideas than he thought he'd ever be able to pull off rested inside his head, and as much as he wanted to try them all right away, he couldn't bring it upon himself to prank his creator. So, bouncing on his paws, he cut through the wizard's talk (which sounded very boring, anyway. How such a dull person had been able to create definitely-not-dull him was so confusing) and said, "Who am I going after, again?"

The other wizard happened to own a large and spacious castle, clearly seen from far off. It was easy, then, for Lumiere to find it, and that night he floated towards it (which, seeing as he glowed in the dark, might not have been the best time). As he reached the door, he briefly wondered how he was supposed to get inside. Maybe just knock?
So with one glowing paw the fox rapped on the front door, then scurried for the cover of some nearby bushes. "Who is it now?" he faintly heard, and a moment later the door opened, and the other wizard appeared with a frown. When Lumiere didn't reveal himself, the wizard sighed, grumbled something about wind, and closed the door.
That had certainly been fun, thought the fox, though he still wondered how he was supposed to get in. The longer he'd been in existence, the more he knew about himself... so maybe if he waited a bit he'd get an idea?
It turned out that idea of his was right - only ten minutes into thought and he realized that he could walk right through walls if he put his mind to it. With a mischievous grin, then, he slipped right on through the door. Time to try out some of those pranks.

Throughout the next week, Lumiere caused mass chaos in the castle. The 'other' wizard, as Lumiere had taken to calling him, poured milk into his cereal and took a bite, only to find that the milk had been replaced by glue. It rained inside, twice. Several large tarantulas 'found' their way inside and were discovered in the other wizard's bed. When Lumiere wasn't doing all this, he took to gliding after the other wizard for hours at a time and shouting 'boo!' every time he spoke. The other wizard soon found out why a strange, glowing ghost of a fox had started doing all this, but he had (for the moment) no idea how to banish a spirit from his castle, so Lumiere went unpunished for all the fun he had.
Being a master trickster was the best thing in the world to Lumiere, and life (though was he alive? A strange question. He refused to ponder it) was perfect. But unfortunately good things sometimes come to sad ends.
About a month after Lumiere took up residence at the other wizard's castle, the other wizard finally completed a spell to banish him from the place. It happened suddenly - one minute he'd been hiding all the wizard's socks, and the next he was several miles away in a lonely, deserted field. He tried at once to go back, but something kept him from re-entering the place... and when he returned to the home of the wizard who had first created him, he was turned away there as well, as he was no longer of any use to his creator.

The purpose he'd been made for was gone, and Lumiere no longer knew where to go, or what to do. For several days he thought about what to do next, but nothing sounded exciting or good... except to continue with what he'd always done - be a prankster. But who would want such a fox?
As his travels soon showed, most people didn't mind one or two pranks - it was when they'd undergone ten of his best in a day that they got annoyed. So he started a new routine - travel somewhere, play one prank on each person, then continue on. Soon this became his new routine - and what a fun one it was. He even started to like it better than his old one.

Years and years went by, so many years that it brings us to the present day of Lumiere's life, and the fox had become quite well known. His visits were often celebrated, and many hopeful pranksters would ask him for tips or advice.
Yes, being a master trickster was the best thing out there, and even though the way he went about it was not how he'd first planned, life was still good, and he wasn't going to let anything get him down. Not when there were pranks to do!
