Summary
You've heard of having your head in the clouds; now get ready for a Vaiki with her feet on the clouds and her head in the stars! Born in Brunswick, ME, Edda's had a facination with the worlds beyond our own ever since she was a kid. Out in the woods and on the islands, away from the city lights, she saw the stars in the vast void above and knew two things - One, that there had to be life somewhere out in the seemingly endless expanse of space; and two, that she belonged out there somewhere. Her spacey nature made school tricky, but she's working hard to get to the point where she can go to college for a career in astronomy. She dreams of one day making contact with beings from another world... and perhaps even joining them, wherever they are!
Despite her lofty dreams and fascination with the worlds beyond her home, Edda still has a part of her heart on Earth with its people - When not distracted by her dreams of the vast unknown, or being dragged along in Adam's conspiracy theories, she often can be found helping in her local community, from volunteering at shelters and soup kitchens to simply shoveling her neighbors' driveways after winter storms.
Trivia
- Edda came about as the result of running jokes on the Vaiki Discord talking about Vaikis with human body parts - Teeth, in Edda's case! Her design draws heavily from one I created several years ago for the now-closed Vaiki artist competition. Many people find her teeth odd and somewhat discomforting, and some more abrasive ones often try to make her keep her mouth shut - She tends to misinterpret this as them disbelieving what she feels are obvious truths about the nature of life and the universe, which frustrates her endlessly.
- Like the original design that hers was based on, Edda's color scheme draws from Strawberry Swing by Coldplay. Her favorite food similarly references the song.
- Because of her fascination with space and extraterrestrial life, Adam quickly took a liking to Edda when they met on the bus, and the two have become friends. He considers her his apprentice, and has on multiple occasions dragged her away on excursions to try and discover the truths behind his conspiacy theories.
- Edda just... really doesn't like horses. Their long faces, thin legs, big eyes and odd pupils... They weird her out. Her greatest fear is that she discovers life on other worlds, and they're just more weird horses.
- Edda is a trans lesbian.
