"I won't leave your side."

  ABOUT

Lycoris tends to attract attention. Their startlingly realistic upper half contrasts sharply with the dark digitigrate legs they walk on, all of which is usually decked out in a special edition of military-code body armour--not exactly your ordinary citizen. Being a prototype android, they've had to get used to the odd looks thrown their way.
They were designed first and foremost as an army nurse, a tireless assistant in the face of a seemingly neverending war. Unfortunately, their sturdy build and replacable parts have outlasted their more organic employers; they're on their third doctor now, one who doesn't seem to mesh so well with a robotic assistant. For all the friendships they've managed to form past first impressions with the soldiers under their care, this roadblock feels daunting .... but in the wake of grief over the doctors they've lost, they refuse to give up.
When not bustling between sickbeds, Lycoris daydreams of a time when they'll be obsolete .... and not in the dark storage closet way. Once upon a time, when they were still just a lab test, they'd known a more peaceful life than the shells and blood of the active front. Maybe someday if they're lucky, they'll get to return to that?

 —  ABILITIES
     - Lycoris is armed with a prehensile tail, which is lightning-quick and equipped with a current-heated blade on the end that can be unsheathed at will. While quite useful in dire times for both menacing the enemy and cauterizing amputations, it mostly gets used for day-to-day cutting or is simply kept sheathed. The whole tail can be stowed away along Lycoris' back, disguised as a slightly ridged spinal support.
     - Due to the structure of their legs, Lycoris' sprint is more like the bound of a deer than the run of a human. It's hasty, good for scaling sloped terrain, and allows for high leaps when needed, but can look a little strange to someone not used to seeing it.
     - A sensor net is set into the shoulder blades, allowing Lycoris to get a sense of their surroundings even without sight or sound. It's generally used as a supplement or backup, but if decapitated, they would still be able to navigate using it. Given that they rarely shut down, this sensor net is almost always on, allowing them to keep tabs even when in sleep mode.
     - Most of Lycoris' charging is done wirelessly, which while slow, allows them to move about the medical tent unhindered. They can also be plugged in for a faster charge, or when without any alternatives, unfold solar panels built into the lining of their body armour to charge afield.
     - Lycoris always wears a silvery locket with their namesake cast onto the lid. Rather than photographs or keepsakes, this contains a tiny hard drive, onto which they can upload themself in the event they expect their body to be lost or destroyed. From there it can be brought to the lab that created them and restored to a new body. The only caveat is, someone has to remember to take it with them ....

 —  NOTES
     - Although Lycoris is usually covered almost completely by their body armour, on rare occasion they get the chance to dress 'normally' and show off their realistic torso. Their synthetic skin goes to the waist; the rest is a durable black outerwear fabric over padded machinery, but this can be switched out with some effort to a softer material for special occasions.
     - Lycoris maintains letter correspondence with several servicemen, befriended during time under their care.
     - They quite enjoy hiking, camping, and being in nature, but generally go alone, as they prefer to be able to bound around at top speed and work all their stress off much faster than a human could keep pace with ....
     - They have little patience for humans who don't respect the autonomy or intelligence of androids--it's true that truly independent machines are still new, but it's been a lifelong trouble for them, and they've decided it's simply not worth tolerating unless necessary.
     - Although permitted to self-edit within certain parameters (powerful machines who can remove their own restrictions are very dangerous, after all), they may have found a .... loophole. Shhhh.
