BACKSTORY:

A young vampire who currently plays keyboard in a rock band called The Plague. Before joining this band, he made a living by busking on the streets and playing in bars.

He grew up on a farm with a relatively large family: his madly-in-love parents, younger brother Griffin, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins. When Pyre was 19, his brother was attacked by a vampire and turned into one. Griffin was terrified of facing his new life, so in brotherly solidarity, Pyre willingly became a vampire as well.

Pyre loves theatrics and loves performing - the bigger the crowd, the better. He enjoys trying new things and is slightly naive, making it easy for people to rope him into inadvisable activities. However, what he lacks in common sense he makes up for in optimism, energy and humour; he's undeniably fun to be around.

Pyre became a musician for fun and doesn't consider success important. His main priority is making sure everyone who attends his performances has a good time, including himself. Though fame doesn't matter to him personally, he does hope that his band gains renown for the other members' sake. He's very considerate and will look out for his friends in any situation where it might be needed. If two of his friends are fighting, he will usually try to comfort both of them, regardless of who started it.

Pyre dislikes the idea of being a negative person, leading him to hide "bad" emotions. He knows it's impossible to be positive 24/7, but he tries hard to only focus on the good side of life. Most of the time, however, he is genuinely in high spirits.

DESIGN:

Pyre has red eyes like all vampires, and long fangs that tend to stick out of his mouth. He is somewhat tall and has a very thin build. His has a long, sharp nose and flame-red hair that varies in length.

During concerts, Pyre likes to dress in colourful, eccentric clothes. These often include a bright green waistcoat, gold trousers, a bowtie and orange boots. When not performing, he dresses more casually, with a fondness for sweaters and jeans.

ABILITIES:

Pyre has the same general abilities as other vampires in my world. These include high strength and reflexes, powerful healing, and the ability to shapeshift into animals. His preferred animal form is a red fox. However, Pyre is notably weak by vampire standards and struggles to shapeshift.

His healing ability allows him to recover from most injuries, no matter how severe, with no lasting damage. However, he can't completely regrow missing body parts - and as such, being decapitated or losing vital organs would kill him. Wood is poisonous to him. Sunlight and garlic have no effect.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Stal

The leader of Pyre's band, The Plague. Pyre greatly respects his skill, but they don't have anything more than a civil working relationship. He generally leaves Stal to his own devices unless they need to talk about music.

Loch

One of his bandmates, and also his best friend. They spend a lot of time hanging out, and are about as close as they can be while remaining platonic.

Gray

One of his bandmates. Their relationship is civil, but they aren't close.

Arc

One of his bandmates. He finds Arc quite relaxing to be around due to his calm nature, and they consider each other friends.

Griffin

Pyre's two-year-younger brother. After Griffin was unwillingly Turned, Pyre chose to become a vampire to support him. Nowadays, he works in a casino. They still have a close relationship and see each other as often as their schedules permit.

TRIVIA:

- Skilled keyboard player, but never learned to read music. He just plays by ear.

- He manages an online video channel where he uploads music that he's made. He also posts behind-the-scenes clips of The Plague at work.

- He started using Pyre as a stage name when he was 16 and didn't actually know what the word meant at first - he learned later, but by then "Pyre" had stuck.

- Carries a bag of mint sweets everywhere with him and usually smells faintly of mint.

- Plays videogames. His favourite is Super Mario Galaxy.
