    Masks: Final Hazard

A mysterious boy who is a massive fan of Final Hazard. He claims to have extraordinary and deadly powers, but he won't show them in case they go out of control. He hopes to be a superhero one day, but is currently waiting for an in.

Appearance

Giger is pretty runty, small for his age even for prepubescence. He has an olive complexion that dips into sickly, with black hair messily brushed back into a ducktail. His eyes are an unnatural red-violet, with impressive natural eyelashes, though the perpetual bags under his eyes detract from the affect.

Giger's wardrobe is usually a few minor variations on the same concept, forsaking a dedicated superhero costume for slightly outlandish causal wear. He always has on a neon green scarf, which usually covers his chin and mouth; he's very sensitive about it being pulled any further down, insisting that his strange condition makes him too hideous to view unguarded. He also always wears a dark purple motorcycle jacket with silver-white hardware and detailing. His shirt underneath changes, depending on his mood-- it's always a T-shirt, but he has a fairly large collection of them with movie posters advertising films he's never seen, but look pretty cool. His pants are whatever's clean and comfy, but his boots match his jacket and scarf, and he also wears fingerless gloves.

Personality

The public perception of Giger is that he is way too young to be in the heroing business. It's not really a matter of size—though he is small—but rather one of maturity. As a hero, Giger is prone to grandstanding, frequently and loudly declaring things like, "I'm the Prince of Fear!" and "My dark power can be barely contained!" He does seem powerful, once given the opportunity to flaunt it, but that's only more concerning, given the dark undertones of his abilities and his desire to be edgy, cool and a little mysterious.

Among his teammates, Giger doesn't socialize very well. He prefers the company of books and video games to that of people. His youth, newness to the team, and constant posturing paint him as something of an outcast, anyway. And he's fine with that.

…Or so he would like to be. Giger is hurting, deep down, but isn't even old enough to give names to the way that he hurts, and definitely wouldn't seek help, even if offered. He's never really had a close friend, other than his sister, and it's difficult to say how he'd even react to having one. He's bad at showing emotions, but he does his best to protect those he cares about in secret (god forbid anyone see him caring out anything). He has the potential to become a better person, who doesn't replace their terrible self-worth with grandstanding about borderline villainy, but only time will tell if he takes such opportunity.

Takehiro Wakamoto was born in Japan. His father was ordinary, but his mother was anything but: Souko Wakamoto, leader of the Japanese super-"hero" organization Kurozakura. Under her leadership the group had transformed from dubiously militant to outright villainous and bent on world domination, and she had hoped to make Takehiro her successor. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), Takehiro's birth and early life was complicated and sickly, and his mother came to resent him for it. Her disdain for her own son helped Takehiro's father to come to his senses, and he took Takehiro (and his newborn sister) and fled to America.

Life was not easy for young Takehiro, even away from his domineering mother. As a shy, nerdy, immigrant child with a weak constitution, he was an obvious target for bullies. For the first fourteen years of his life, he endured: first loudly, then quietly as he became used to the terrible norm. In late middle school, the bullying escalated, and eventually Takehiro found himself unable to bear it. In a moment of weakness, he wished that his tormentors could feel just an ounce of how scared he was all the time, and thus he awoke to and shaped his superpowers.

Growing up in a world of superheroes, Takehiro was excited to learn that he was a metahuman, but his father was mortified. Fearing that his son would become a villain like his ex-wife, he encouraged Takehiro to keep his powers a secret and looked for a way to suppress his powers permanently. Angry that his father would try to take the one good thing that had happened to him away, Takehiro ran away from home and headed towards Halcyon City to try to make a go of being a real superhero.

Powers & Abilities

  • Enhanced Strength

Giger's heritage grants him strength beyond what a boy of his size should be capable of. With training that he's done, he could easily go toe-to-toe in a street brawl against several thugs at once and even teenage superpowered teenagers who haven't taken the time to hone their strength. Against adults or other disciplined individuals, however, he'll tend to have the losing hand.

  • 「GIGER」

With a few moments of focus, Giger can summon a construct, confusingly also named Giger. The construct takes the form of a relatively enormous centipede, roughly double Giger's height in length, with human-shaped, bug-looking arms in place of its frontmost legs, long sharp fangs in a mammalian mouth, and 3 ocelli with no true eyes. This strange bug can act independently of Giger, and has good speed, strength, and range of operation.

  • Fear Manifest

The unique ability of the Giger construct allows its master to see a person's greatest fears by locking eyes with them. This includes both abstract concepts (like loneliness, failure and heartbreak) and concrete objects (like spiders, clowns and holes). With a little concentration, Giger can induce hallucinations of these fears occurring or appearing for the individual; a little further extension of his power allows his to create temporary physical manifestations of these fears.

Members of Kurozakura

The members of Kurozakura that Giger knows are: two young recruits named Logan and Claret, their mentor Alice, and the current president of the organization Boris Vishnyakov.

He doesn't trust Logan or Claret, understandably. They currently hold the hope of one day killing Giger to advance their position in the organization. They've been helpful training him up to be a superhero, but that's only due to Alice's interference and insistence. As soon as he slips up slightly, he knows they will come for him.

Alice seems... pretty nice. Giger's never really had a wine aunt before, and she can be fun to be around sometimes, if he lets his guard down. He's still a little scared of her, but she tries, and he can appreciate that. She also seems to think that he has the key to something, but he's not sure what.

Boris is someone he's never met, but Giger has heard much about him, especially from Alice. She despises him, and has told Giger that he's ruining Kurozakura in its entirety. While he's not really sure he understands, he does know that learning more about--and potentially defeating-- Boris might be enough to save himself.
