Summary

Daughter of a grizzled fisherman who can barely take care of himself after the death of her mother. She essentially raised herself and doesn't blame her father, as he had to provide for the family and be gone on the ships for half the year. She never really told her friends what was going on in her life beyond the briefest of detail. She'd rather die than have someone take heavy pity on her. She was raised at Camp Stillwater every summer, since her father was gone, and she naturally started to be a camp counselor when she came of age. She wants to work as a biologist and help the ecosystem thrive. Big time granola girl who wants to save the whales, the ocean, and her small town.

Emerson likes to support those around her and genuinely finds a lot of joy being a leader camp counselor at Camp Stillwater. Emerson can easily disappear into big groups and likes to take a backseat in life. She is humble and is uncomfortable when the spotlight is on her; she genuinely is uncomfortable when it comes to having the attention on her. Emerson is quiet when it comes to her life troubles and she is still not over the death of her mother. She buries her emotions to make room for everyone else's around her and she pretends that she is okay and not at all suffering. She is a closed oyster and tough nut to crack when it comes to getting her to talk about what is going on in her mind. She would much rather talk to others about themselves than about herself. She feels like a ghost and tells herself that it's preferable even though it's all she's known because of family trauma.
