Koji Ushijima, also known as the Portal Speed Hero: Momentus, is currently the No. 59 Pro-Hero and a teacher at UA High School.
Koji has platinum blond hair that spikes up closer to his head, the rest grown down to just past his waist and put into a small ponytail towards the end of it, in his hero costume braiding it. His eyes are a light silver color.
Koji is known to be a incredibly positive person, giving off a warm aura that draws people to him naturally. It almost seems sometimes like nothing can truly bother him outside of his duties in his hero work. He treats anyone he meets with whatever ind of kindness and respect they deserve, often times being very teasing and fun loving, and has a huge soft spot for kids, relating to his big brother tendencies he had with his own little siblings way back when. He always seems to have some kind of advice or idea up his sleeve for those that need it, and often will encourage others to push themselves and do their best. He tries to be for others the inspiration and support he wishes he had as a kid while on his path to being a hero, which is one of the reasons he became a teacher. His students at UA mean everything to him, wanting to see them excel and he would do anything for them, even if means pushing them harder than most but he never lets them believe he isn't there for him if they need him. But that can be said for anyone close to him, being over protective and exceedingly caring to those he loves. However, he does often hide his negative feelings sometimes, always trying to stay bright and optimistic for others as much as possible and never addressing his own issues.
When it comes to his hero work, its a flip of a switch at times with how serious he can get. He will become hyper focused and has learned to think quick on his feet, needing to calculate moves in his head and doing what needs to be done to keep others safe. He channels a great deal of leadership in those moments and won't take any nonsense, willing to scold anyone and everyone who acts too rashly (though it is out of care and worry more than anything).
His past is something that Koji doesn't like to talk about or go in depth often, in fact he tries to hide it as much as he can and sometimes pretend it doesn't even exist. When people ask him, he can expertly avoid the question, answer very little about it, or change the subject completely. People can often see a small break in his mask when it comes to his mind before he's quick to cover it up again and move on.
Koji was born into a family of Quirkless people. Both his father's and mother's family had never had a Quirk nor dated anyone with a Quirk. In fact, both of them had been raised to despise, dislike, and condemn the existence of Quirks, Heroes, and Villains entirely. They all believed it was a drain of society, unnecessary, violent, dangerous, and was just something to never be given as much as attention as it was. And they had planned to raise their own kids this way. This became an issue when Koji was 4 and a Quirk of his own, out of nowhere, developed. This was met with great hostility from his parents, unsure of how he could even HAVE Quirk, and were severely unhappy about it. From the moment it had appeared, Koji had been told to never use it, to hide it. That it was an abomination, that he shouldn't have that, that his power was a bad thing. He had to be normal, like them, and as he grew his parents tried to drill and instill into him, and later his little sister and little brother, those same ideals. However, it had never stuck, to him or to his siblings. Despite knowing how his parents felt about his Quirk, his friends at school were amazed by it and his little siblings loved to see him use it.
In secret, he took the time to practice and train it, finding its ins and outs and perfecting his usage of it over the course of a few years. There were some major trials and errors, mostly learning the speed at which one needed to be going to get through them (this resulted in many face and body bruises), but he was able to figure it out as the years went on.
With his parents constantly busy with work, Koji being the oldest of his siblings was meant to take care of the younger ones, which he never minded. His sister, Hana, little brother, Ryo, and him got along as well as siblings could, the three being incredibly close. He cared for them, cooked for them, took care of them when they were sick, helped with their homework, among other things. If one asked him what was a contributor to him wanting to be a hero, he would admit they were a major part of it. Because the two loved seeing his Quirk so much, he would often use it for them, and it was his sister who planted the seed in his head to become a hero. Hana and Ryo often times asked Koji if he'd become a hero, if he would be like those they saw on TV (that the three secretly watched together when their parents weren't around or Koji would watch/research on his phone in secret) and when he he would deny it, saying he couldn't, Hana would very much push that he should try, even with how their parents were. Alongside her, many of his classmates in middle school, including his best friend Taishiro, urged him to do the same. Everyone that knew him knew of his parents and their cruelty, a cruelty that lightened as Koji got older and an ignorance of his Quirk developed. But as more people encouraged him, telling he could do it, he became inspired and set his sights on UA.
The Entrance Exam was a nerve wracking experience. Not because of the exam itself, oh no, he was so pumped full of adrenaline and excitement that he soared through it like no one's business. No, the nerves came from what he would tell his parents. When his letter of acceptance arrived, he had been excited beyond reason that he had made it into the Hero Course. He was going to be a hero like he wanted, he was going to live the dream! But then came the fact he would have to approach his parents. A conversation that went south fast. An argument ensued when he told them, resulting in his mother hitting him, and the two kicking him out of their home for good in the middle of the night during a storm. He went to the only place he knew, the only place he felt safe sometimes, to the observatory, where he sat on the bench outside in the rain, until Hana found him (having snuck out to give him his phone) and assure him that her and Ryo were cheering him on on his path. After returning her home, Koji called his best friend Taishiro, whose family accepted him into their home and housed him throughout his and Taishiro's years at UA.
When it came time to take on the Pro-Hero mantel, he fell into place incredibly easily, reflecting his high marks and exceptional skills he showed throughout his years in UA, and everything he had learned since then. While he never hit into the Top Hero ranks, his name became well known and quite the popular hero (especially to those of the feminine nature). Alongside his hero work, he decided to take on teaching at the Academy as well, realizing his want to inspire others just as he had wanted at that age. Wanting to help train the future heros and be there for them. A few short years into his Hero career, he finally was able to take on a role as a teacher for the higher classes at UA.
If there was one thing Koji didn't think would happen during his work as a hero, it would be that he would meet the love of his life. During a rescue atop a crumbling building, he attended to the rescue of a hostage and disarming of the criminal at hand. As the building began to fall apart, he and the hostage (a woman named Jordyn) and him had an...interesting way of conversing her rescue, going up until the very last minute where he forced her to take a leap of faith from the building, catching her after tossing the criminal towards another waiting hero and leaping to her rescue, settling her back down safely on the ground through one of his portals just a moment later. It was in this moment, back on the ground, that he was able to fully take a look at her and was smitten at the first sight of her (not knowing she had an Empathy quirk and was able to feel his feelings in that moment). The two didn't meet again until some time later, seeing each other by chance as she took her foster home children to the observatory and saw him there casually (a regular to the place). The kids were excited to see a pro hero and he entertained all their questions and excitement, accepting an offer to join them by Jordyn, and the two spent the time getting closer. Slowly but surely, the two began to see each other more and more often before Koji finally decided to ask her out officially and their relationship was born, both of the falling madly in love with one another. Their is still a lot of theirs own issues to work through and tackle together, but he feels as long as he has her, he can do anything.
Koji continues to work seriously as a Pro-Hero, taking on his duties as a teacher with the greatest dedications, and to be the best partner to Jordyn to provide her an amazing future with him.
Quirk
Momentum Slowing Portals: Koji can create and use portal created by a click of his fingers and making chosen destinations of where they're show up. These destinations, however, have to still be somewhere near by, having a limitation to how far he can reach to make them. Example; Cannot make a portal in Japan and have its connecting one in America. He can make a vast majority of these portals at once and choose which ones lead where, where they'll end up, the size of them, etc. The portals cannot directly face each other within a foot distance or be placed directly beside one another within a few inches (he's not even sure why it doesn't work).
One can travel through the portals to any other portal it is connected to, but on certain conditions. Anything passing through the portals has their speed slowed as they go through them, causing them to be slowed or stopped once on the other side. Because of this, anything going under a certain speed cannot and will not get through. The portals will either not move as you try to get through (like a wall, maintaining a solid surface) or if one tries to enter with speed but not enough, it will allow partial entrance before pushing you back out with a great deal of force. Because of this, Koji's hero suit is modified with collapsible skates with small engine propels on his shoes to allow him to maintain the speed necessary to get through, as well as his major mark as a hero is his leaps and bounds through the air and buildings, letting gravity pull him through the portals. With their solid surface if you're lacking speed to go through them, they can double has steps or platforms.

Family
Jordyn Naomi Peters-Ushijima: His wife, his starlight, his love, his baby, his everything~ Jordyn is the love of his life and he adores more than anything in the world. They met when he rescued her from a hostage situation and got an arrow through his heart in that first meeting and he's been hooked on her ever since. But also his match because, as an empath, she sees through his emotions often and can't hide much of anything from her.
Sana Jaziri: His daughter whom he and Jordyn adopted around the same time the two were married. A star in his sky, he cares deeply for her and did everything he could to make her feel loved and accepted into the family, knowing her past and his own past with his parents, and is protective of both her and his son. She's his little girl and no one can tell him otherwise, just wanting the best for her and loves watching her be able to grow into an amazing person.

Satomi Mifune (3-A): One of his students at UA and basically a pseudo little sister. Koji lived next to Satomi and her family during his teen years attending UA, growing close to them all, babysitting her and her brother, and getting to watch them both grow up. In Satomi, he sees such a good deal of strength and determination with a Quirk to match the personality she has. He knows of the great potential in both siblings and how they'll both make exceptional heroes.
Ayato Mifune (1-A): One of his students at UA and basically a pseudo little brother. Koji lived next to Ayato and his family during his teen years attending UA, growing close to them all, babysitting him and his sister, and getting to watch them both grow up. In Ayato, he see his excess of energy he has and how brightly he shines, enough to lighten a mood and inspire others. He knows of the great potential in both siblings and how they'll both make exceptional heroes.
Ayaka Koyanagi (3-A): One of his students and currently his intern at his agency. He met her during her first year during a training session with her class and found out later she was a fan of his, requesting to intern with him during her first year work internships and almost begged to continue interning under him throughout the rest of her school years. The two get along exceedingly well and Koji sees a great deal of potential in her as a hero, finding her Quirk quite out there but useful and unique. Despite her cool attitude, he sees a great deal of determination and passion in her for her goal to be a hero.

Taishiro Toyomitsu (Fat Gum): His best friend since middle school and one of his main encouragements to attend UA. When his parents kicked him out, Taishiro and his family took him in and they attended the academy together, pushing each other throughout their years and becoming Pro-Heroes together. The two remain incredibly close, basically considering each other brothers at this point.

- Koji is obsessed with space; stars, galaxies, planets, etc. The Observatory is his favorite place to visit and goes often.
- He has four piercings on each of his ears, most times having earrings of moons, stars, or ear cuffs of different constellations.
- To make sure he has enough speed, his hero suit shoes have hidden skates with essentially rockets in them for use of gaining the momentum he needs.
- He loves the adrenaline and the feeling of jumping from buildings and other high places to use his portals.
- The sounds of creating his portals is similar to the sounds of the bubbles from Steven Universe.
- He still keeps in touch with his little siblings though he rarely gets to see them due to their own lives and schedules.
- He and Taishiro Toyomitsu (Aka Fat Gum) have been best friends since middle school.
