Alba is a Digimon fan character made to an original setting with a friend. As such, information may change as their story is being worked on.
“Yes, they’re made to be worn, however…” the child mumbled and looked at their hand that was now clenching the red ribbons. “My parents would probably get mad at me.”
7eKoLmo.png A quiet observer, Alba prefers sidelines over the spotlight. They’re soft spoken and more interested in Digimon than humans, making the other digidestined feel like Alba doesn’t care for them or their company at all. This has caused some strife among the group, but deep down Alba would very much like to be everyone’s friend - it’s just that it’s difficult for them to trust others and form meaningful relationships with humans. The upside of this is that whenever the children need someone to negotiate with other Digimon, Alba usually fares the best at this task.

Although Alba is quiet, when they do speak up, they speak calmly and clearly to ensure their words are understood right - a result of them often being misunderstood when Alba first arrived to Japan. Deep down Alba would also like to make friends and get better along with others, but it’s a slow and gradual process for a child whose previous contacts to their peers were roughly severed without a warning.

Alba’s partner is Lucemon. They loosely correspond to the Crests of Light and Courage, and are the only chosen child in their group with two digieggs instead of just one. The other digidestined in their group are Tokiha, Reiji and Yui.

APPEARANCE

Alba is a preteen with a light, fragile looking build. Due to their age Alba still mostly possesses the androgyny of a child, but their legs have already started growing longer and more slender, and their shoulders are slightly wider than their waist or hips. Their skin is pale and their features notoriously scandic, with green eyes, round button nose and gray-ish, semi-long hair that almost reaches their shoulders.

In the main story Alba is seen wearing a pink, long sleeved shirt with a wide collar, a light beige hoodie, light brown shorts and white tights underneath them. Alba’s tennis shoes are also beige in color. Alba initially wears only one ribbon on their hair as the other one is being worn by Tokomon, but not long after Tokomon evolves into Lucemon the digimon gives Alba the ribbon back, remarking it looks cuter when Alba wears two ribbons.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Fares well in puzzle games thanks to their analytical and logical way of thinking when presented with a problem. However, to combat this logical side, Alba is simultaneously extremely emotional and the feelings of others can get them very easily. It’s not unusual for Alba to cry when others cry or feel joy when others are experiencing it, regardless of Alba’s own feelings or involvement in their actions.

  • Although their voice is soft, Alba speaks very clearly and has a little to no accent - a result of them fearing others wouldn’t understand them.

  • Good at negotiating peacefully, Alba has a surprisingly diplomatic aura to them once someone just pushes them to the right direction. Most of the time though they’re too shy to speak up.

  • Not super good with kanji, but is otherwise about as good at Japanese as any Japanese child their age would be. Can also speak fluent Swedish and does well in English for a 12-year-old, thanks to school education in Sweden.

TRIVIA

  • Strictly uses watashi as their pronoun for self & in Swedish uses hen as opposed to han or hon. However, at home Alba uses male pronouns simply because they’re not out to their parents yet. Because the characters in Alba’s setting speak Japanese by default, the topic of gendered pronouns isn’t the same as it’s with English.

  • Alba is not their legal name, but other children don’t know that. It’s a name they chose for themself.

  • Cries very easily and is ashamed of it but also can’t really control the tears

  • Often sits alone or somewhat away from the main group. Alba is very open with Lucemon but struggles with the rest, even if Tokiha in particular is constantly trying to reach out for them.

  • So used to the cold and dry climate of Sweden that the Japanese temperatures and the warmer areas of the Digital World easily wear Alba out of stamina.

  • The only one who is allowed to call Lucemon “Snowball” even when he has evolved from Tokomon. During the events of the story though Alba slowly ends up calling Lucemon “Snow” instead.

PERSONALITY

Always considered something of a runt, Alba’s soft spoken and shy personality isn't gaining them any favors when among their peers, especially boys. In Sweden Alba was often bullied for being weaker and considerably more “girly” than the boys of their age, with unfitting interests and a moral compass deemed too “soft” by others. Alba dislikes violence and was never a fan of rough physical activities, instead preferring a more organized and calm way of playing - such as board games, cards or very rule-heavy outdoor activities like hopscotch or hide-and-seek. They have a strong need for order and clarity, and dislike chaos and messy or confusing situations, often resulting in them crying or getting otherwise frustrated.

Deeply empathetic despite their love for logic and rules, Alba feels very strongly for others and is easily affected by the emotions of others, often mimicking them against their own will. Alba is also surprisingly well in touch with their own emotions, but often lacks the courage to face their fears or do things that could potentially result in them being picked on or hurt. This is also the reason Alba is terrified of coming out to their parents and really even their peers at school, and the Digital World is the first place where they’re actively using their preferred name without anyone knowing their current legal one.

Despite the walls Alba has built around their heart, deep inside they really want to connect with their peers and have fun just like other children their age do. Although very shy, Alba is trying in their own ways to reach out for the other digidestined, even when the others might feel like Alba is doing the exact opposite. With Lucemon as their Digimon partner, Alba is starting to gain more self confidence they have previously lacked. They can be a tad naive, but fighting together with the others is starting to change Alba hopefully for the better.

HISTORY

This section is unfinished due to the fact the story is still being worked on.

A child of a Japanese mother and a Swedish father, Alba lived the first 10 years of their life in Sweden. They learned Japanese from their mother and the family actively spoke it, making Alba practically fluent in the language. However, urgent family matters from Alba’s mother’s side forced them to move to Japan to take care of Alba’s grandparents, and the family settled down in Japan for the time being with no solid plans of either permanently staying or leaving. Due to the sudden move and the drastic time zone difference between Sweden and Japan, Alba’s relationships to their Swedish friends were soon severed, leaving the child afraid of getting attached to others in the fear of losing them as well.

Alba has a difficult relationship with their parents, who pressure them to act more like a boy. Although their intentions are good as they believe it’s Alba’s lack of boyish traits that make it hard for them to make friends, it has made Alba terrified of telling their parents they’re nonbinary and actively distance themself from them.

After being whisked into the digital world, Alba becomes hesitant to return back home at all, clashing with the other children who do wish to return back. They think the Digital World is a much more pleasant place to live in, where Digimon without hesitation accept one’s gender identity and presentation. However, as the group adventures on, Alba becomes more dedicated to their duty of protecting both worlds and starts getting closer to the other children, ultimately understanding they can't stay in the Digital World forever.
