About

Cause of Death: Critical congenital heart defect
Reincarnation Condition: Savor the beauty of life and let go of all negative emotions

Note. Slight mention of depression.

BEFORE DEATH

Ayumu has been a very sick boi ever since he was a kid due to birth defects. Not only he often had to miss class and stay in the hospital, he was also prohibited from doing anything physically demanding either, meaning that he pretty much grew up away from other kids and had missed out a lot of fun stuff in his childhood. Because of that, Ayumu soon became extremely depressed during pre-teen; without realising why he's doing it, he would often beat himself up or refuse to to take his medication for days. The only person who was able to comfort Ayumu was his best friend Etsuki, a boy who cared for him so much that he would stay at the hospital all day to keep Ayumu companied. The two had been close buddies for many years until Etsuki eventually decided to ask Ayumu to prom on their last year of high school, and there he left a message of confession in Ayumu's yearbook, telling him that he is going to take on a degree in medicine in the hopes to find a cure for him. To Etsuki's surprise, Ayumu accepted him without questions, but he also told him in tears that he was going to move overseas because his parents have found a more promising doctor for his medical conditions. The two spent the remaining of their time together before Ayumu's departure, and Etsuki promised him that he would come find him as soon as he finishes his studies.

When Etsuki had finally obtained his degree years later, Ayumu had untimely fallen extremely ill. Despite all efforts with his new treatment, his condition has worsen by day and he knew his time was almost up. Not wanting to upset Etsuki, Ayumi stopped maintaining contact with him (which left Etsuki pretty worried and heartbroken nevertheless), and eventually passed away a few months later.

AFTER DEATH

After Ayumu's death, his soul was not able to move on and was sent to the limbo. There he was given a vessel of a dog plush by Milo, which gives him the power to transform into a kemonomimi human. Like his living self, Ayumu continued to be extremely depressed and tended to isolate himself from the others. He had lost all of his memories in his past life, and yet he always felt a load of regret in his heart that he could not even explain to himself. When he finally met Etsuki again in the limbo, he could not remember who he was, he never understand the reason behind his level of affection and determination to find a cure for him. That said, Ayumu still follows Etsuki around, he even lived with him together in Neonia simply because he was too fragile to object, and part of him is also a bit thankful for how well Etsuki treats him.

Etsuki [ Boyfriend ]

Etsuki was Ayumu's best friend before he died. He promised Ayumu that he would be always be with him to the end of the world no matter what happens, and sworn to find a medication that can cure Ayumu even after both of their deaths.

Hoshino [ Casual Friends ]

Ayumu and Hoshino were both patients from the same hospital before they died. While they were not close friends, they have met each other occassionally during rehab therapy sessions and found each other rather "likable". However, since Ayumu was living in Neonia after they died, the two never really got the chance to meet, not to mention they don't have much memories left to recognize each other in the fist place.
