Elias Vargas's Links
Vargas hated Azriel all those years ago, but now that he knows the company is still very much alive and kicking even under their leadership, maybe...they've changed for the better? Not that he wants to reach out or anything, b-baka.
Azriel kind of wishes they knew what this guy's problem was. Admittedly, since they were less self-aware back then, they don't really remember much of what they said to him...
Vargas...tolerated Ignazio. He always thought that his heart was in the wrong place. If he really loved justice so much, he wouldn't be with the police.
Ignazio always saw Vargas as the complicated sort. He never really understood him, and sometimes felt like he had to tread lightly around him, lest he anger him for some unknown reason.
Vargas never really appreciated Zschauin, not quite understanding their experiences as a native of a pre-first contact world, and often ignoring any advice they'd give.
Zschauin never really appreciated Vargas, not quite understanding his experiences as an android, and being annoyed with him whenever he and Azriel would fight.
Vargas is glad he doesn't have to deal with Obuo's shitty jokes anymore.
Obuo's not exactly sad that Vargas left the company, because he always got mad at her regardless of how innocuous her teasing was.
Vargas was always overly hostile toward any input from [perseus], seeing them as an uncanny reminder of how most AIs are treated like tools. Don't they ever want to think for themself? Get other hobbies?? Search for a different career??
Given [perseus] was a relatively blank slate at the start of the company, they now understand why Vargas seemed so prickly around them. But even still...did Vargas realize [perseus] was an employee just like the rest of them? They can quit the job anytime if they don't like it, thanks!
Vargas stuck with Snow & Arrow mostly just for Snow. Her acceptance of him had him see her as a sort of mother figure, and her death rocked him to the core. Nowadays, he realizes that sort of projection onto her was pretty unhealthy, but that doesn't stop him from missing her.
Snow always regretted that she couldn't ever get Azriel and Vargas to see eye-to-eye. Both of them were cantankerous and cagey, meaning that talking never went anywhere. She was hoping they'd eventually get fed up enough to have an actual discussion like adults, but it never came to pass.
