Surt-Lim is a spirit, an ever-lasting presence of chaos and ruin. Call it what you will, he simply labels it as boredom, but something drew the spirit to manifest and seek to bring war and tragedy to the land he oversaw. Humans were too simple and scarce. Animals occupied mots of any given area and the leading predator were the wolves. Surt-Lim chose to take on their form and at as one of them. He quickly formed his own massive pack, made them strong, created heirs to his throne, and sought to rule over anything and everything he wanted.
The reason behind killing off half a dozen wolf packs while leaving survivors is never confessed but one can only assume he simply was curious to see how a clumsy group of freshly-made humans will manage to get their revenge on an entity that simply cannot die.
