Crewmember: Dr. Nguyet Obuo

◆BIOGRAPHY:

▶Originally fully human, Dr. Obuo comes from a small moon colony which had a cultural phase best described as "cosmetic genetic tinkering." In fact, she helped pioneer it.  Nowadays, most of the citizens of the colony are essentially furry humans, but the trend died down once it turned out that most of the procedures rendered the population infertile.  Dr. Obuo met Snow & Arrow when she herself gave them a supply request mission, and enjoyed their service so much that she decided she wanted to work with them if she could.  Her general science knowledge could assist in missions, on top of the medical help she could provide if something goes wrong...and thus she was hired.

▶With degrees in medicine and microbiology, Obuo ensures the health and wellbeing of everyone on the Izsak-Delporte. She loves to laugh, never gets serious, and is becoming infamous for cracking puns. She expresses interest in budding science practices as much as she's interested in medicinal discoveries, and so she stays up-to-date on the latest news throughout the galaxy. She has a wife and a teenage daughter back at home.  It was a big decision to join a crew that wanders the galaxy, as it would mean having a long-distance relationship with her closest family, but she keeps in touch as much as she can.  So far, she's the only member of the crew who's married.

▶Obuo, in fact, did not originate from her moon colony.  Before she lived on a much more populous spaceport, where she worked with several other medical researchers and scientists.  Together they studied human viruses, hoping to further protect the population with their discoveries.  Unfortunately, after an act of negligence, the strain they were studying escaped to the public and started a deadly epidemic.  Obuo and her team were now the center of a scandal, a nightmare of a conspiracy made real.  After the disease had been controlled, the resulting negative attention and lawsuits drove her to flee from her home with her then-fiancee, Nailah.

▶Obuo married Nailah, changed her name completely, and took up residence in Božja Milost, which was a small, new colony at the time.  Obuo pushed for bodymodding as a fad in order to change her own appearance without suspicion, adopted her daughter, and settled down.  Obuo's plan was to hide herself completely so her past could no longer reach her, and Snow & Arrow coming along provided another excuse to run away, now at the expense of her new family.  While she maintains an attitude of levity and is skilled at her job on the ship, there's always the nagging feeling at the back of her mind that she'll never really find her own personal sense of peace.  Revealing your history and talking about it?  What the hell is that?

◆FUN FACTS: 

▶She loves joking around, but she knows when to stop.  She doesn't want to be rude.

▶She’s been married to her wife, Nailah Obuo, for seven years.  Their adopted daughter, Clari, is nine.  They adopted her when she was three.

▶She helped pioneer the bodymodding fad in her colony six years ago.  She has quite the influence back home.

▶She video chats with her family on a regular basis.

▶She has a knack for traditional card games, though Zschauin swears she cheats.
