Bassi Neta

Sebastian Netaa was captured by mages at a young age and wound up forced to work on a ship. He eventually managed to make an escape and stowed away on a ship that was in port named Le Petit Oiseau. Le Petit Oiseau turned out to be a pirate ship captained by a woman of the name Amani Nyamsa, and Sebastian was soon found and brought to the boatswain and head of discipline: Hernando Salazar.  Nando let Sebastian stay on the ship, taking him metaphorically under his wing until Sebastian was trained to be one of Nando's mates.
Nando was obnoxious, but Sebastian--now dubbed Bassi--and Nando grew to be close friends, along with the lieutenant Sceptre. In time, Bassi came to love them. And Sceptre asked him to be his sweetheart, too (Sceptre was also in a relationship with Nando at the time).

Bassi also came to respect Amani and considered himself to be home amongst her crew, and helped with commandeering the sky ship now known as La Llorona.
After some years on La Llorona, Nando went missing and was presumed dead after mission gone wrong. This was hard on Bassi and he missed his friend dearly, but took over Nando's role as boatswain. This is the position he has remained in ever since.

Sceptre and Bassi eventually got married. They love each other very dearly and are affectionate dorks.

Bassi cares deeply about his job and the wellbeing of La Llorona's crew. He does his best to ensure everyone's safety, and is far more playful, caring, and patient than his outward appearances may suggest.

And oh hey, Nando's alive again and everything is weird.
