About
Sainn is a very subdued person. Many would call him an emotionless robot, but he would describe himself as 'having emotions, just not as loudly as everyone else'. All he wants to do is have clear directions and follow them and also cut things, and that's really not lead him astray in life so far. He turned himself in to witch jail as soon as he noticed he was a witch(like a good law-abiding Angstromi citizen). He really thrived in the restrictive environment of the military and many years later is living it up as one of the top surgeons in the country. Very respected, but also everyone he knows is waiting on him to have a big messy meltdown & go on a killing spree on account of his whole...emotionally repressed vibe.
Actually has a great deal of freedom, for a witch. He's been allowed to move out of government housing and buy his own apartment, and although he does have an overseer he is not under 24/7 supervision and hasn't been collared in years. Despite this he still manages to live a pretty isolated existence, his closest relationships are with his overseer(s) and his work colleagues. It's fine though, he's very content with his life.
He knows people are creeped out by him, and has tried not to let it bother him in the past (was kind of hoping that perfectly doing everything that is expected of him would make people stop being creeped out by him). That didn't work, so he attempted to 'act like a normal person, who makes expressions with their face and modulates their voice to convey emotion'. Unfortunately only people who had never met him before were fooled by this, and those that knew him were actually MORE upset by the sudden change. Not to mention it was horribly exhausting and not sustainable at all.
So he just mopes quietly until an opportunity presents itself, in the form of his overseer retiring. If he can't change HIMSELF, he can at least change the company he keeps, and an overseer is required to follow him around almost constantly. He pulls some strings with people who owe him favors and emphasizes that he's been perfectly behaved for his entire life, and is able to weigh in on the decision of his next overseer.
He chooses a man named Nico, whose reputation is that of a pretty idiot who got his job through pure nepotism. Just a big tiddy himbo extrovert who is beloved by all despite a tenuous relationship with competence. The perfect shield/social buffer for Sainn. All goes according to Keikaku.
UNTIL! The witch rebellion pulls a big stunt and it turns out one of its leaders is Sainn's ex gf. From like 10 years ago. Sainn doesn't see the issue here, it's not like he's even talked to her since he graduated high school. Other people do not see it this way: The rebellion has spies and sympathizers within the government and free-roaming witches are the first to be scrutinized. The fact that Sainn has a previous relationship with rebel leadership(despite how distant he claims it to be) AND has gone out of his way to ensure he is assigned an overseer who is seemingly incompetent, has made him especially suspicious in the eyes of his superiors.
Despite the fact that they can not prove he has any involvement with the rebellion, he is pretty much immediately stripped of all of the little freedoms he has been granted over the last decades (recollared, put back into government housing, surveilled heavily & constantly).
And Sainn Actually Gets Pissed Off About This. He has always done the correct thing, he follows rules & regulations to a T and has never had a rebellious thought in his life. He was fine being treated like a caged zoo animal when he was younger and didn't know any better, but he's too accustomed to living almost like a normal person to return to it, especially after how long it took him to earn that level of freedom and trust to begin with.
Concept: He's not being allowed to work in the hospital anymore, He & Nico get assigned to infiltrate the rebellion in order to prove his innocence/loyalty. Slow burn romance between them as Sainn's world view deteriorates to the point that he doesn't even care that banging your overseer is totally inappropriate.
Personality & Outlook
Subdued, unemotive, doesn't have much of a sense of humor.
Really buys into 'Just World' Theory, believes that if you do everything right you will be rewarded and bad things only happen to people who do bad.

dislikes: uncertainty, people making jokes about/accusing him of being a serial killer, having to pretend to be neurotypical(he does not do it often it is exhausting).
Despite seeming robotic and putting a lot of weight in 'logic', his motivations largely stem from seeking base pleasures. He wants to feel good and he can be a bit of a hedonist. Low key horny all the time.
Powers & Assets
Cutting Witch
Has his own mana pool, rather than having to rely on battery magic like the average Angstromi mage. His magical niche is: 'cutting' things. He has an instinctual grasp of how and where best to cut things to get his desired effect and can make measured cuts accurate to the nanometer. 'Cutting' is in quotes because he doesn't use an actual tool, he splits things with pure magical energy.
His casting philosophy is instinctual, seeking gratification. He feels an itch to cut and it feels good to cut, he wants to slice and chop and split and this desire is especially geared towards flesh and meat.
Surgeon
Went to medical school!! Knows all the medical...stuff. His magic specifically makes him an incredible surgeon, he's never botched a cut in his life. He can do otherwise-invasive surgeries without breaking skin(or extremely minimal skin breakage). Can break up a kidney stone no catheters required. You would be amazed what he can cut out of you without spilling any blood.

TBA [ex-overseer]
His old overseer, who recently retired to the countryside after recovering from a heart attack. He was a big and dour and intimidating bear of a man who has been assigned to Sainn since he entered medical school. They got along pretty well, he's one of few people who have never expressed discomfort with Sainn's lack of emoting(probably because he's p emotionally constipated himself). They still talk sometimes, though usually just discussing practical matters.
Nico [current overseer]
People like him a lot: He's very cheerful and friendly and likes to make people feel good about themselves. Sainn began this relationship hoping other peoples' regard for Nico would transfer to him just by proximity. Also Sainn is not immune to big tiddy himbo. He'd never get involved with his overseer, because that's inappropriate, but still.
Aether [high school gf]
His ex gf he has barely thought about since high school. She likewise is ambivalent about his existence most days. Currently he's pretty pissed off at her for fucking up his life (he knows it's unreasonable to expect someone to consider the feelings of someone they haven't talked to in 10+ years and it's totally illogical to be mad but sometimes feelings happen anyways)(he's more upset about the situation than at her personally).

Q & A
Q: How was his childhood when it came to socializing with others? And what kind of dreams/aspirations for the future did he have in his childhood?
A: (OOC) Before his magic awakened, I imagine he had a rough time of things. He was definitely one of those little snitch kids who tattled whenever any rule was broken ever & that does not win many friends. He was only like 10 when his magic came in tho, and then he got shipped off to live with the other witch kids just in time for puberty. Witch jail is not GREAT, and a lot of his peers are very upset at being taken away from their families(which he does not understand). But he makes friends with kids who didn't have good home lives (he wouldn't say his home life was bad but he also is not in contact with his birth family even though he could be if he wanted to, so). Also autism is very common in witches! So his personality isn't off putting to his new peers in the way it was when he was living in the general population.
He's always placed a lot of importance on societal expectations, he probably pictured himself being a soldier! There's a big military culture in Angstrom regardless of the witch situation. He also at one point wanted to work in a deli(he is just fascinated by the slicing machine).
