Highschool

High School was supposed to be a new experience to kaylia, like in the movies or tv shows she used to watch. Yet it was clear to her why she was so sought after, most women wanted her because of her mother’s successful fashion brand while most men found themselves leering at her body. These actions planted seeds of insecurity into kaylia when she was looking for a stop to this cycle. As a reaction, she started to hate her body and consequently her mother for believing that she’ll only live as a reference to her brand. Kaylia didn’t know what to do with her attention, she wouldn’t mind having friends if only that was their first interest. This caused her to be prayed upon by the other popular girls of the school, they were more aggressive and knew what they wanted from people. Thus a girl by the name of Daniela and her goons strung kaylia along to lower her standard of what a friend constitutes. She designed styles because Daniela expected her to, She got a boyfriend because Daniela told her she should, Kaylia became more pompous because Daniela was like that. Unknowingly, kaylia sunk further in unwanted attention by becoming another faceless unit of Daniela’s posse, but she didn’t see it like that, because she only saw them as close friends. Kaylia admired her confidence, her stride, even Daniela’s style (which was technically Kaylia’s), and that administration soon turned into something unrequitable. Daniela saw it too, and how kaylia’s neediness for companionship was overweighing her usefulness. She didn’t see the pecking order she was brought into, because kaylia wanted to have a connection as equals. Thus Kaylia started to see where her place was after being invited to Daniela’s house party.

Party Fiasco

It was a typical kind of house party you’d expect from a highschool drama. Daniela’s parents didn't care much for her daughter's antics nor enough about her well being to be home all the time, so the teenagers had more than enough time to drink and mingle with each other. This event however served more as Kaylia’s wake up call, as it was only an exaggerated version of what she already goes through in highschool. Her “friends'' couldn't be bothered to remember her first name but were quick to ask for favors on new clothing styles for her mother’s brand. The men who spent their time leering started to be brave and try to make moves, yet of course the main focus was with Daniela. She was openly flirting with Kaylia’s boyfriend, and started to get more intimate once she had locked eyes with her. Kaylia wasn’t focused on the guy cheating, they more or less only dated for status so it was bound to happen, it was the betrayal and disrespect from Daniela that made her stunned. To top it all off, Daniela would personally greet Kaylia to the party as if it didn’t happen, to lean in and remind Kaylia of her place in the hierarchy. Kaylia, despite wanting to lash out at Daniela, she ended up leaving to avoid making a scene of herself. Afterwards, Kaylia didn't know how to handle her “best friend” and crush trying to upstage her for status. She sank into a less sociable depressed state, and was basically forgotten off by her old friends for finally running through her usefulness .Once the news spread, the negativity that would have gone to the guy was passed on to kaylia, after he lied about his relationship with Daniela and wrote off kaylia for being loose. Not only couldn’t Kaylia handle the popularity she was given, she couldn’t bother to handle how much she'd fallen. She was ostracized, yet sought after from the rumors labeling Kaylia as an easy woman.

The Gang

Kaylia’s introduction to the gang started slowly, first it was with Tzu for a group project. She relied a lot on Tzu since she was the smartest of the two. Afterwards Kaylia simply just found herself hanging more with Tzu since she didn’t have anyone else, Tzu was awfully passive about it. The two naturally grew their bond slowly before they could even refer to each other as friends. Kaylia was honestly too afraid to consider Tzu a friend on the off chance that she would start to get rumors or harassment for associating with her, yet she never did anything to prevent this. Infact by their third year of high school they’ve only become more closely connected. The most tzu had to deal with were people trying to get close to her to get to kaylia, but they were seen more as an annoyance than an actual problem. Even though kaylia was comfortable with her new position, she started to miss all the friendships she held before and sought to start over. Even though she thought her friends were only stuck with her for superficial reasons, Kaylia instead blinded herself with the mindset that things will be different, and her next victim would be Luna. Luna wasn’t someone that social with everyone, most other students only knew of her during gym, when she would be more active. Other than that, she would mostly keep to herself, but that would soon change now that kaylia locked onto her. Every now and then Kaylia would try to break Luna out of her shell, overtime she would learn more of her interests whilst Luna would try to be reserved. Although annoying as it seemed, Luna acclimated to the two, even as to seek them out just because that's what she was used to. Almost on a dime, she went from only talking from questions to actively conversing and commentating, making Kaylia and Tzu the ones to adjust to her. It wasn’t until their last confrontation with Daniela that the three would submit themselves as close friends. Almost out of nowhere, she would encounter Kaylia during gym, with the audacity to recommend more clothing styles. As if their history didn’t change, Daniela would converse about her social media career and a possible sponsorship while Kaylia had to stand uncomfortably. It was obvious that Kaylia didn’t want anything to do with her, yet once Daniela started acting like her old self did, past emotions started to flare up and stun kaylia. She realized that the change she saw in Daniela was actually what she has always been. It wasn’t until Luna “accidentally” launched a kickball at Daniela did the conversation actually end, after that the three officially cemented themselves as the outcasts of the school. They were able to spend the rest of their highschool how they wanted to. Entering College, the three found the most convenient one for each of their interests, college life gave Kaylia a new start to making more friends again, as no one from their highschool was there to recognize them. Eventually, after hearing one of her peers Cassidy talk, she found her too cute to not add to the gang, and although shy, Cassidy was eager to make friends. She originally came from Ireland and Kaylia elected herself as the one to walk her through the normalcy of living in New York. More and more the gang ultimately became like the close companionship Kaylia was looking for, and although Kaylia would love to have as many connections with people as she could, she could always rely on Tzu, Luna and Cassidy to keep her spirits up.
