    rayne is a pretty tender guy, honestly. he cares a lot about people around him and his friends, even if they don't offer the same care in return. he's pretty self-sacrificial, though this sometimes gets overpowered by his frustration. when he's upset, he tends to shut down and hide away from things, not wanting a sour mood to ruin whatever good is going on. while he doesn't ever really talk about it directly, he's also got pretty bad depression, and has been using alcohol as a means of 'coping' with it for years.
