Profile
Rian is a baí zé variant of Everling who lives just outside town, in a cottage in the forest. They live with their mother and run the in town apothecary, acting as the town doctor. You can buy herbs and assorted medicine from them. As a baí zé, they have latent abilities that are suited for their medical profession. They have a permanent ward against bad bacteria and dirt, and are always sterile. They also provide a soothing effect to burns through touch, and have a natural talent for medicine. They also like to paint in their spare time, usually using their surroundings for inspiration.
Rian is relatively quiet and orderly. They have a soft voice but talk a bit rigidly, remaining professional and polite in daily interactions. Every day they walk into town to run the town clinic, although they don't seem particularly happy in their profession. They take Fridays off unless there's an emergency. They also work along side the Blackborne family on the Chiron Medical Board, as Guiying's successor. In conversation, Rian is more of a listener than a talker, but will tend to comment on things that interest them. They're also kind of anxious, and easily flustered.

Trivia
Everlings are a variant of human with animal, usually bovine or hoofed creature features, that possess a genetic form of magic passed through the family. Everlings were created by the gods when the original population settled in an inhospitable environment. Throughout the millenia, they evolved into different types and identify themselves by the 5 elements: fire, water, earth, wood, and metal. Metal Everlings further call themselves Baí Zé, and their main characteristics are pale blue skin, dark blue to purple hair and a pair of large horns that grow together at the ends, forming a loop.
Everlings live longer than humans and pass their magic and features down through their lineage, on the mother's side. Most Everling traditional societies are matrilineal, and Baí Zé in particular tend to be very religious. They also travel as healers wherever they're needed, a big population residing in Chiron due to the Disaster.
Guiying, their mother, established a system of healthcare in competition and in tandem with the Blackborne medical colleges. Rian has inherited that clinic, and runs it very well. However, they're at a constant threshold of stress due to the demands of the job, and while they work well under stress they don't really know how to relax. He cares for his aging mother at their house, and receives letters from his numerous siblings. Due to the disappearance of his father, Jie, and the moving out of his siblings, he gets lonely easily. A little bit after the story begins, he lets Oruro stay in the cottage with him and Guiying.
He is a very repressed and anxious individual, regularly fretting and worrying over people who have caught his eye without really realizing. He enjoys cooking and cleaning, and the cottage is always very tidy. It's rare to see them ever sitting down and relaxing.
