Yurian Loptyr

Tyrant ruler of [kingdom], which he carved with his own claws. Ruled for 1000 years as king, and was only recently successfully challenged by adventurers--and even then, only on a technicality. If he had not been cursed, he would have killed all of them (and he succeeded in killing several, including one of his daughters).

Yurian is in many ways a stereotypical red dragon. He is driven by a lust for power and creature comforts, and has a well-deserved reputation for sadism and pettiness. He has no desire to change, even after three of his daughters lead a party of adventurers against him and cursed him to be trapped in a (mostly) human shape. If anything, it just made him more angry about it; he hates pain, and touching the cursed veil (given his constant desire to have it Off) causes him immense agony. Despite this, he still sticks to what could resemble a code of honor if you squint; there's no glory in a feeble opponent.

He is not without his soft spots--he is a devoted husband and while his parenting tactics are still distinctly that of a red dragon, he's unusually soft for the species in that he does not meet sickliness or rebellion with death. He's also a very competent leader, although the fact that a party of adventurers got close enough to make an attempt on his life should show how happy the life of the average person is in his kingdom. Very, very few people see even this limited kindness--the best most can hope for is to be a particularly favored vassal.

He is painfully aware of how weak his human form is and how vulnerable he currently is. It's not a sensation he's used to and it further drives his desire to return to normal as soon as he can, before his rivals catch wind of his condition.
