► Connor

Connor can be neatly summed up as an eccentric-looking guy, but once you scratch the surface, it's a bit awkward to come to terms with the major turn of events that have made this down-to-earth lawyer as tough as he is...

Appearance

- When out of the courtroom, Connor is all grins. As long as he isn't studying or checking out cases, he is totally comfortable-seeming, in posture and expression!
- He's got a pretty youthful face, but if you ask him, he likes to say he's still super young...!
- His hair is a bit of a mess, even when he tries to clean it up for work. It's a dark, dark brown, not very warm in undertone.
- He works out but it doesn't really show (much to his frustration)-- he's naturally soft-looking, and has a bit of a wider body frame. He also has a little bit of an issue with fluctuating weight.
but he is TOUGH as nails!!!! he lifts, bro!!!
- His eyes are a pale brown, and paired with thick expressive eyebrows, it's hard not to notice any change in thought when around him.
- He's also just naturally prone to expressing things in a faux-grandiose manner-- whether it be talking a bit louder, using wacky vocabulary (i.e.- stupid old slang or stupid new slang), or gesturing wildly. Most of it is an act, of course, but it's one that amuses others and he's fine with coming off that way.
- He likes wearing super casual clothes-- and in fact, a lot of his clothes he's hoarded since he was a teenager, so a lot of his jeans have that outdated fit... Not to mention his band shirts turn heads among his coworkers.
Not only that, but he likes checking out new styles, too, so sometimes he just looks completely wrong on account of wanting to 'try a new look' just for the fun of it.
- Though he's, what he likes to imagine is average in height... Paired with his stature, he used to get picked on for "being too big". (He's not bitter about it... Really.) This is one of his secret reasons for avoiding wearing his suits for work until the last minute. 💦 They're immaculately fitted and expensive as hell, but damn if he's gonna take being called a linebacker anymore!

Personality

-When it comes to his wheelhouse and what he's studied his ass off for? He's cocky as all could be. He delivers messages sweetly, but the underlying truth of them remain: "I know. And I probably know better than you, too." Whether it's true or not, he just cannot think any other way about his knowledge.
-He's new money, and likes flaunting it here and there.
And... He makes enough that he feels out of place saving up more than he needs/keeping it (after flaunting a bit, of course); he is very very charitable and likes giving back to the community in many ways.
-Outside of his work he is EXTREMELY casual and has a hard time connecting with his fellow lawyers. He's kind of immature, in that sense, but doesn't mind being considered the outlier if it means he himself is happy.
-Deceptively playful and will do his best to keep his cards close 'till the end... For anything.
-Normally described as goofy and loves feeding into that sort of facade. Yeah, there's genuineness in some of his actions, but he's definitely not as carefree as he comes off.
-He hates being under-prepared but his position means this is one of those things he has to tolerate often... As noted above, he's big on understanding everything that's tasked of him, and some.
-Very competitive and very bullish about it (given the person, anyway-- he knows when to back down).
-So... He might come off like a punchable douchebag sometimes... But really, he's a good kid.

BIO

Connor is an attorney-- a prosecutor to be precise. He works mostly with homicide cases; he's green-eared but capable enough. For his age? Yes, he's doing AMAZING. And he knows it. He's busted his butt to get where he is as fast as he did, too.

He was the sole child of a single mother, out in Brooklyn. They kept each other afloat-- of course Connor couldn't provide financially, but to his mother, he was a great source of comfort and happiness-- with what little money they had, on account of Connor's father never paying for alimony like he should have.
Things were alright until one day, in his teens, Connor realized he hadn't seen his mom in a few days. This wasn't all too commonplace, but he had to respect that it took a lot of time to make a living out in New York, and sometimes he and his mom would lose track of the time.
But... It was from there that he realized life had come and gone way too fast-- from contacting the police after a few more days had passed, his mother being placed on missing persons reports, moving to his Aunt's place, then realizing that yes, they found her, but she had been brutally murdered.

He had the temptation to withdraw in on himself, giving up then and there-- and he did so, though in minor ways, to avoid from any more attention being paid to him or his mother's legacy. Like hell he was gonna make a mess of what his mom had worked for at that point!
The fire wasn't kindled to be a prosecutor, but rather it was the only thing that, to Connor in his bereavement, felt fair. He wasn't a violent man-- far from it even still-- and to get even with force felt as bad as what had happened to his ma.
As he tried to skirt around socializing at school, he buried his head in the studies that began to matter to him. By the time he had grown enough to graduate and some, he took the bar exam and passed with flying colors. He knew he was ready to make things right in the only way he knew how. Well, that and just be an overall mensch, even out of the courtroom, but that's a given.

When he's not overcome with that fierce sense of justice, and when in the company of others in general, he seems to shine brighter, finally to terms with being back in society at large.

FAMILY
Damn does Connor miss his ma something fierce. He tries his best to put it behind him, but he should've known better than to imagine going into 'this life' without a hitch.
They didn't always see eye-to-eye (certainly not), but that didn't mean they didn't love and respect one another. If there was ever a hissy fit snapping fight between them, it always ended in blubbering apologies and big hugs. He's positive the only reason why he turned out to be such a good guy was due to her amazing efforts.
Unfortunately, his (only) Aunt that he had moved in with after his mother's passing was old in age as is... Sure, she was also a very nice respectable woman, but, in Connor's heart, he wasn't as good as he should've been with her. Everyone was going through a lot back then...

Trivia

  • Connor used to be an OBVIOUS metalhead before he doubled down for his bar exam... Cutting his hair felt like a crime against humanity.
Even with that tidbit in mind, he never liked to label himself, as all kinds of fashions, styles, and interests come and go through his life like a revolving door. ... It was just kind of easy to fall into the 'fuck the system' role when he was being a justified sourpuss teen. 😳
  • He wears contacts so he doesn't "look like a dork" with glasses.
  • The only thing stable in his life is that he has a sandwich with coffee for lunch every damn day...
  • He's a great pesterer of the detective's bureau among the precinct he works for. (that's also something stable in his life, but he's rue to admit it)
  • This is hiiiiiiim!! 😂
  • He's non-practicing Jewish. It was a big deal before his mom died, but, without her, he's not gonna force himself through it.
  • Loyal to new york ("Brooklyn, baby!") despite complaining about the place more often than not...
  • He is a massive fan of all things media-- passionate about shows, movies, music, games, etc.
though having gotten into law, he's kind of waylaid that obsessive fanboying.
  • All the other lawyers goad him into drinking with him, but he's not a fan of it. So, just another thing that he doesn't have in common with his peers...
  • skjdsfjkds the black sabbath heaven and hell shirt is 1-for-1 like the one my dad gave to me forever ago-- it's a genuine 80s baseball-style shirt and i loved it to bits... like, literally... it's in bits now.... (hung up on my closet wall to preserve what little is left of it, hehe) also shit, that album is just amazing 😂👌🙏
