PERSONALITY

Coral has confidence in spades, which many might call vanity instead. He is well-aware of his own beauty and is not above using it to get what he wants from others. His interests vary and are often short-lived. He often repeats the cycle of becoming obsessed with something, seeing it through to the end, and then moving on to the next object of interest. Until he gets what he wants, however, he won’t give up so he is considerably stubborn and steadfast in that sense despite how lackadaisical he might seem from afar.

Interestingly, he really likes technology and picking up new gadgets. Clever and bright, Coral is a naturally good problem-solver and enjoys figuring out how to use the things he collects. Technology might be one of the few things he never gets bored of. He uses his trusty astrolabe to navigate when he’s lost at sea at night.

He tends towards being positive and upbeat, laughing and conversing easily. He is sociable and friendly, so he generally doesn’t have problems getting along with others and endearing himself to them in the short-term. He trusts others readily and is weak against compliments. Coral does, however, get bored easily. He can be rather high-maintenance because of this and will get upset if his needs for entertainment and good helpings of praise aren’t met. Still, Coral doesn’t stay sad or angry at others for very long. He can be considerably temperamental and exhibit diva-like behavior, but any moodiness is rather quick to dissipate. Thus, even if people get annoyed with his selfishness sometimes, they eventually come back around once he’s calmed down. His charisma is such that the other person will often apologize when Coral’s angry even when they’ve done nothing wrong.

Coral doesn’t multi-task well. When he’s focused on something, he can’t be pulled away from it until he’s finished the task or gained what he was aiming for. He won’t heed others’ advice in these situations, preferring to act as he thinks is best. He is resilient and will work hard and patiently towards his goals until they are met, though he might complain afterwards. Coral's a risk-taker in the sense that he's very short-sighted and doesn't consider all consequences when making a decision. As long as whatever he’s doing advances his goal, that’s all he needs. He's been lucky enough to avoid any serious repercussions thus far, which only encourages this reckless behavior.

HISTORY

When he was young, his mother took him to his first glance of the surface. It was a beautiful, clear night and that's when he instantly became enamored by the stars. 

Since then, he frequently made journeys to the surface in order to star-gazes as much as he could. He decided he would devote his entire life towards learning more about the stars.

OCCUPATION

Coral’s an astronomer first and foremost and adores researching about the stars and even using them for navigation. However, there are few uses for an astronomer in Catlantis apart from map-making. Unfortunately, Coral finds the daily tasks of a cartographer tedious and dull so he hardly ever finishes a complete map.

On the side, Coral is a “seashell florist”-- meaning he makes flowers out of seashells for decor or as accessories. He does well enough to comfortably buy all the food and vanity items he needs.

RELATIONSHIPS

Coral: "You should be more gentle with a beauty like me." Thanos and Coral's relationship is complicated in the way that Coral isn't able to put a label on it. And Coral hardly sees himself as a "paramour" to be added to Thanos's collection. After all, Coral sees himself as the most gorgeous purrmaid in the ocean-- How could any other compare to him? Though, Coral sees Thanos as a simple Purrmaid with a brutish attitude towards life he did technically save him at the encounter at the shipwreck. Whether it's an issue of pride or Coral actually enjoying Thanos' company he finds himself wanting to command his attention.

Coral: "Well, of course you think I'm pretty! But which part of me is the prettiest? Come on, don't be shy!" Coral is pushy towards Atlas in the sense that he tries to derive any sort of compliment from him. He finds Atlas cute in the sense that he's like a pet.

Coral: "..." Coral finds it hard to leave when he smells the alluring scent of her homecooking.

Coral: "Hey, hey. What star sign are you? Do you believe in stuff like that?" Coral sees Ellis as a knowledgable Purrmaid with a good head on his shoulders. Ellis would probably be the first person who he shows his astrolabe to due to him being the only one he knows that would truly appreciate it. He can't help but to make fun of the fact that he has to wear glasses though. Isn't that for old people?

Coral: "Finally! Something that I can wear that suits me. My expectations for you are skyrocketing up to the surface! You won't disappoint me, right?" Coral sees Lucien as a Purrmaid with a good eye for accessories. Coral swims by his boutique whenever it's on the way or at least bi-weekly. The intricate and high-quality lace and craftsmanship is hard to find anywhere else in Catlantis. Despite his admiration for Lucien's work, he would be offended and refuse any of Lucien's more full-coverage designs.
