Meredith

Any Prns

"It doesn't matter what we are. I'm content as long as I can be by your side. Because nobody should have to fight through life on their own. So I'll always have your back, no matter what."

About

"Hey, you can be as bad as you want, I know I can be too, honestly," she chuffs, briefly pausing to roll her eyes at herself. "But I don't think it'll hurt our bad girl street cred if we're just..."not that bad" to each other." -Meredith, to Cecil
  • Full Name Meredith Maxwell Owens (Maiden) || Meredith Maxwell Devlin-Owens (Married)
  • Nicknames Mer, Merry, Hotshot/Spitfire (by Cecil)
  • Age 20+
  • Gender + Pronouns Unlabelled GNC (Any Pronouns)
  • Birthday April 18th
  • Ethnicity Welsh-American
  • Occupation Tattoo Artist
  • Sexuality Lesbian

A rebel at heart, Meredith Owens has always carried herself proudly, with an aura of confidence that can almost feel contagious to those she spends her time with. From skipping class or getting into the occasional fight in high school, to causing general mayhem in college, she lives her life to the fullest, though her love for trouble is not nearly as high as her love for her friends, of whom she is incredibly loyal to. The Trio (a group that includes herself and her two best friends; Lucy Circe and Jessamy Kidd) is the most important thing in Mer's life, and, along with anyone else who manages to befriend her, she would take a bullet for any of them. She might looks mean, might act mean, and she might be difficult, but the woman has a heart of absolute gold that she would show to no one else. With a family that did not want her for who she was, The Trio are the family she never got, and she pushes hard to make sure they know how much she cares due to that.

With a rather hedonistic mindset, Meredith was, back in her college days, known amongst peers for her tendency to get into flings, considering she wasn't the type to keep that part of herself behind closed doors, and it only helped that she fully believed herself to be incapable of falling in love...until she began forming feelings for one of her best friends on complete accident. This would have been fine if said friend hadn't been in love with someone else, but she was, which left Meredith stumbling to try and get over feelings she didn't know how to cope with in the first place, feelings she wasn't exactly keen on admitting out loud, either. These feelings, of course, that were also about to get FAR more complicated without her even realising.

Likes

  • Dogs
  • Hard/Alt Rock, and playing it of course
  • Spicy food, specifically anything jalapeño flavoured
  • Tattoos/Piercings/Body Mods in general
  • Sour candy, Sour Patch Kids in specific
  • Coffee, usually with a ridiculous amount of sugar in it

Dislikes

  • Sitting still for too long
  • Authority/Being told what to do
  • Skirts (Dresses are fine though)
  • Anything with nuts in it. Excluding peanuts and pistachios.
  • Rom-Coms (but she LOVES making fun of them)
  • Certain cooked vegetables (it's a texture thing)

Trivia

  • Meredith has an extremely hard time sitting still, she tends to fidget and be in at least some sort of constant motion. A habit that semi-formed from this is a tendency for her to draw on herself either unconsciously or when she's fully aware. This habit was one of the ways Meredith both designed her own tattoos as well as gave her the push she needed to switch her major outside of Amber's suggestion, considering she finds enjoyment out of doing it.
  • Her voiceclaim and singing voice is Lzzy Hale from Halestorm.
  • Meredith actually doesn't start most of the fights she gets into, considering she genuinely doesn't want to severely harm anyone unless they actually deserve it. She just has a smart mouth and that typically leads to people striking first, and Meredith isn't the type to just let someone punch her without consequences. The only times she will genuinely try to start a fight with someone is if they directly threaten someone she cares about or they REALLY manage to set her off, which isn't all that common.
  • Her opinion on gender is pretty simple; she doesn't label herself nor really perceive herself having one. Quite frankly, Meredith could not give two shits about what someone calls them in terms of pronouns or gendered terms. They might squint at you a bit if you call them a man, though. Depends on the day.
  • In high school and for a portion of college she drove a beat-up pickup truck she managed to fix herself after finding it abandoned one night back in late sophomore year of HS. It wasn't damaged to a drastic rate though it definitely had seen better days, but with her parent's troubled relationship with her she didn't have another option. She eventually ends up getting her hands on a motorcycle, though (but likely keeps the truck around too for necessity).
  • She's an Aries, and when it comes to alignment she's Chaotic Good.

Personality

"We'll always have your back with anything, Luc, you know that. Except maybe like...murder. But if it's you we're talking about they probably had it coming, so I'd play alibi for you."

Hedonism and a natural free-spirited, passionate, and rebellious nature run through Meredith's veins like blood, and with how self-indulgent and fun-loving she is, it comes to no surprise to anyone. Most of the time and at first glance, the woman is fairly laidback, surprisingly chill considering her high energy, easy to get along with if you strike the right chord with her. From a distance and due to her tendency to get into fights (that she rarely ever starts nor ever truly wants to get into), some do tend to assume her as mean and rough, which she most certainly can be, Mer can be quite the asshole if she does not like your vibe or if she thinks its funny, but she is never sharp or snappish unless riled up beforehand. She loves getting into trouble, casuing general mischief, and breaking the rules just for kicks or because someone told him not to. He's the type of person that would hand you a 20 to get a beer from the cornerstore while telling you to get you something nice for yourself as well, the chill and laid-back bad girl type, though she grows excitable quick if given the chance to embrace her interests.

Despite this aforementioned intimidating demeanour, Meredith is extremely extroverted and sociable. She loves going to parties, clubs, or bars especially, and it is not all that hard to befriend her, she loves making new friends through events like these. Her strong charisma keeps her able to carry conversations as well as be easy to get along with for the most part, that and her strong sense of humour and wit, too. She loves a good laugh, loves making people laugh, and tends to laugh at her own jokes often. For the most part, she adores giving the people she meets a good time, whether it be someone she's drinking with, someone she's causing trouble with, or some girl she's hooking up with. It doesn't matter to her, Meredith exists to have fun with the time she has to have it, and she loves extending that fun to the people she spends her time with. To him, life is far too short to be sitting around and not taking risks and not having fun with it.

Of course, following along with her hedonistic ways, Meredith is also a massive flirt who has a similar love for using petnames for everyone she talks to. She loves doing it, too, enjoying getting flustered reactions or flattered looks out of the girls she speaks to, and she has no issue with and enjoys getting into flings or hookups for fun, nor does she have an issue in being upfront and open about it. There isn't anything to be ashamed of in it, anyways, why wouldn't she? Calling her a whore or a slut only makes her laugh as a result, and she has no problem with being confident in herself in that regard. Which, of course, plays into another key part of Meredith's personality; her mass amount of confidence. To the point where she is almost annoyingly cocky, Meredith is intensely confident in herself, her actions, and her appearance, with only one aspect of herself lacking said confidence; her romantic capabilities (which we will get into later). Meredith cares very little about what others think of her and is very much unapologetically herself, and no person can take that from her. This cockiness can, however, result in her getting into things far too big for her to handle, such as getting into fights she was not truly prepared to handle. It does not help that Meredith is also extremely reckless and impulsive, too, and tends to act entirely without thinking, usually going on heart rather than brain. It isn't that Meredith is stupid, she's quite intelligent, really, but her tendency to rush into things does not entirely help that in the slightest.

Meredith will never vocalise this unless pushed, but she truly fears losing anyone close to her considering they are, as far as Meredith is aware, the only family she has, with her biological family clearly not wanting her for who she is. So while she'll be a menace even towards her friends, if she feels she's genuinely upsetting them she'll falter, one of the few times she'll allow her confidence to fade. Due to this, she occasionally feels guilty asking either Lucy or Adrian in particular for help, considering it makes her feel like somewhat of a burden in her head. This, obviously, plays into her fear of vulnerability though, considering she won't bring this up with anyone. So a lot of people just flat-out don't know about her homelife, and though her close friends likely most if not all of it, it takes a lot for Meredith to admit that her situation actually bothers and upsets her, considering she has to deal with the reality that the people who were supposed to love and care for her...didn't, which has also made genuinely believing that other people, even her own friends, truly care about her difficult, though it's something she's gotten better at as her bond with her friends has grown. This and her parent's...lacking relationship have also impacted her views on romance, as Meredith does not feel as if she herself can even fall in love, let alone love someone correctly due to her confusion with fully understanding romantic affection. Hell, Meredith doesnt really understand affection in general, considering she only ever truly got it once she met Lucy and Adrian, which in turn led her to seek it out as a comfort, and also became somewhat of a love language for her, since Meredith is rather touchy around friends or those she's flirting with, especially when drunk.

Despite all of this, Meredith is FIERCELY protective and loyal when it comes to her friends and loved ones. She'd take a bullet for any of them without question, and due to this absolutely hates and REFUSES to lie to them, which...usually helps them in the end when it comes to prying something that's bothering Meredith out of her. She loves and cares a lot more than she appears to, but this comes with the fact that she tends to hide how she truly feels when it comes to emotions, but she's gradually grown to be very willing to show it when it comes to her "true" family.

Skills

  • She is extremely musically talented when it comes to playing guitar (both electric and acoustic) and when it comes to singing. She's an Alto in terms of range, and due to playing hard rock is very used to going from a low growl to a high scream if she has to.
  • She's a talented artist, especially when it comes to body art, considering she's been trained in tattoo artistry.
  • While not a professional in the slightest, she's capable of defending herself physically, even if she does tend to fight dirty. She's not a fan of resorting to this, but she will if she has to defend someone else or herself.
  • She knows some minor mechanics, considering she's usually the one to fix up her truck on her own if she can. Again, not a professional, but she knows enough to fix up any minor breaks.
  • Charismatic, she's good at flirting or simply charming her way out of things, which tends to help her avoid fights or get out of sticky situations. She's also rather street-smart, so trusting her to get you somewhere or to tell you which places to avoid is ideal.
  • She has a passion for mixology, so while she can also hold her alcohol well, she's great at making drinks too. She's probably had some experience bartending, which definitely helps.

Flaws

  • He is AWFUL at confronting people he cares about. Strangers or acquaintances? Easy. Friends? Not so much. Mostly out of a fear of making things worse.
  • She is reckless as all HELL. She rushes into things without thinking, which can easily bite her in the ass, though she tends to brush this off.
  • Her perception of romantic feelings is absolute ass, let alone her ability to process them. She struggles to cope with them which tends to make her either act on them impulsively or unsure of how to handle them entirely.
  • Due to a hatred of vulnerability, she tends to bottle negative feelings up rather than confront them. An exception is anger, which she tends to act on immediately.
  • Her cockiness can come as a flaw when it comes to taking on things she really shouldn't. It also probably makes her a bit aggravating to some. Depends on the person. And the fact that a good portion of her cockiness is a facade is...not much better, some of it simply a shield to hide her inner insecurities.
  • While not an inherently violent person, he will rush into a fight if his friends are threatened, or to prove a point if he has to. This has led to the scars on her body, considering she has a disregard for getting hurt most of the time.

Hobbies

  • Playing guitar/singing
  • Drawing, usually on themself, but they don't mind doing it on paper or doing graffiti as well
  • Spending time with friends or loved ones
  • Causing trouble or getting into general mischief
  • Skateboarding, though she's not too good at it. She's practicing, though!
  • Driving, regardless of if she's in her truck or motorcycle

Favorites

  • Colour: Red, with blue closely following. This is pretty obvious considering the leather jacket she's often seen wearing is red.
  • Music: As mentioned, she loves hard rock, and tends to fixate on female-fronted bands the most. Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless are big ones (ignore that the singer of Halestorm is her VC. Ignore It.)
  • Food: Any kind of hot chip works snack-wise, but she has a love for jalapeño poppers and fried rice meal-wise. Also a massive fan of breakfast foods.
  • Smells: She enjoys vanilla or cinnamon smells quite a bit. Her best friend loving Bath and Body Works has its benefits and I just KNOW she likes their Black Cherry Merlot candles I KNOWWWW she does.
  • Season/Holiday: Winter, she enjoys cold weather a lot. Her favourite holiday is Halloween, though Christmas is a surprising second.
  • Introvert Extrovert
  • Intuitive Observant
  • Thinking Feeling
  • Judging Prospecting
  • Assertive Turbulent

Appearance

  • Hair Color Black
  • Eye Color Grey-Blue
  • Skin Color White
  • Height 6'0 (6'3-6'5 in heels)
  • Clothing Style Punk/Metalhead
  • Skinny Large
  • Curvy Flat
  • Boney Muscular
  • Groomed Messy
"Jokes on you, years of blasting rock music unprotected has probably killed my hearing a bit. I could sleep through a tornado, your vacuum has no chance on these auditorily deficient babies."

Standing at 6'0 without heels on and sporting a lean yet slightly muscular build at around 155 lbs (she's more so physically fit than beefy), Meredith is typically seen at first as a bit intimidating, the scars marring her face not exactly helping this. Due to her height, she is fairly long-legged. She is extremely androgynous, both in physical appearance (with her build and facial features) and in fashion sense. She has fairly pale skin and shoulder-length, messy, wavy and slightly curly black hair, the sides of it shaved into an undercut. Her hair tends to get in her eyes often, and seems to be almost constantly unruly. She can and often will pull her hair into a bun if she ever needs to. During her time in college, she dyes the ends of her hair blue with Cecil, and she continues to have it dyed in the future. Her eyes are a stormy shade of greyish blue, and as mentioned prior, she has multiple scars on her face; one crossing her lip, one on her right cheek, and one splitting her right brow.

Clothing-wise, Meredith follows a strong punk aesthetic for her clothing, with typically distressed shirts, ripped jeans, heeled combat boots or shoes, and her favourite red leather jacket, though she occasionally may swap it out for a black one. Despite her androgyny, Meredith has no issue accentuating her femininty if so desired, and she will also swap out her typical wear for something flashier at times. Makeup depends on the day, but she typically leans toward dark eyeshadow/liner and dark nail polish at most, though she'll sometimes wear black lipstick if she feels like it.

With her obsession with body art and piercings, it's no shock that Meredith has several of her own. Her ears, face, and body are covered in piercings, and she has multiple tattoos, her most notable ones being the black fleur-de-lis on her neck, the monochrome moth on her upper chest, the rose tattoos on her hands, and the lettering on her fingers, spelling out "HELL" and "BENT" on her right and left hands respectively.

Design Notes

  • While tending to keep a casual smirk or poker face when around strangers, Meredith is solidly expressive otherwise, though her eyes are a dead giveaway when it comes to emotions, keeping eye contact with her is the best way to read how she's truly feeling.
  • Other tattoos not listed above include sleeves of thorn vines going up her arms (which connect with her chest tattoo), a back tattoo of angel wings, and a tattoo of a snake curling around a rose on the nape of her neck. She also has a small stick n' poke tattoo of a skull on her left ankle.
  • She has a silver eyebrow piercing on her right eyebrow, and several piercings in her ears, including a silver industrial piercing. She has snakebite piercings as well, though she doesn't wear them super often. She's also had her nipples pierced.
  • She ALWAYS wears a silver dogtag necklace no matter what, she is never seen without it on.
  • She has a handful of scars on her body as well as her face, though these are random. One on her shoulder and maybe a couple on her hands if anything.

Relationships

11830671?1659141042
Cecil Devlin [ Girlfriend ]

Initially meeting on the absolutely wrong foot by Meredith annoying Cecil in the hallways before class, Meredith never entirely expected to form much of a relationship with Cecil at first, maybe some sort of rivalry if anything. The other woman choosing to speak to her at Snowflake's party after Meredith's unfortunate experience with a drunken Lucy, however, changed this. Though she didn't want Cecil to feel like she was just an outlet when it came to venting about her feelings for someone who didn't seem to feel the same, Meredith trusted her to listen and not tell anyone else about it, and in general seemed to find some sort of comfort in being around the other woman, considering that, as a result of Dallas and Lucy's growing closeness, to focus on getting over Lucy, Meredith gradually began seeking out Cecil to spend time with more and more. Bumping into her more and, upon Meredith choosing to distance herself from Lucy, spending far more time with one another than before resulted in the two becoming pretty damn close, and after they both began developing feelings for the other (With Meredith not entirely realising she was and Cecil being in denial over it), they eventually allow their relationship to evolve into...something. Something certainly romantic, though something they both refused to put a label on, Meredith in particular both conflicted over her feelings (at first especially, considering she had to just then realise that the feelings she thought she'd still had for Lucy...were definitely not actually for Lucy) and unsure of what to do about them other than simply...acting on them. Because she's terrible at communicating this kind of thing. Eventually, though, the two are able to sit down and properly label their relationship, deciding to make them dating an official thing rather than something they were just...kind of refusing to acknowledge term-wise, and this eventually, in the future, results in them getting married at some point. As for feelings though, Mer absolutely adores Cecil, seeming to find a whole lot of comfort in being around her despite Cecil's cold exterior. This, of course, does not stop her from occasionally playfully getting on the other's nerves, but she loves her regardless of anything, and would quite frankly do anything for her if asked.

Lucy Circe [ Best Friend, Former Unrequited Crush ]

Meredith has known Lucy since her early teens, and she quickly grew to become Meredith's best and closest friend alongside Jess. She's noted to be the person who typically helped Meredith when it came to fixing her up after fights, and once she began getting kicked out of her house, if she were to call someone, if Jess couldn't have her over, Lucy would be the first person she'd call, if she wasn't settling for her car instead. After Jess essentially vanished from their lives for three years, Lucy and Meredith were all the other had, especially after they both ended up disowned from their families in some shape or form, and the two stuck together like glue due to this. Due to this extremely tight bond, both women know the other like the back of their hands, and Lucy is the one person Meredith has no issue being entirely vulnerable with, and...for the most part, Meredith will tell her anything and trust her with anything. For a long while Meredith flirted with Lucy, originally, like with everyone else, with only playful intent since the other would typically jokingly reciprocate, though this unfortunately developed into feelings later on that she had no idea how to handle, the simple act of Lucy seeming to genuinely care for her making Meredith fall hard. Meredith had no idea how to cope with her feelings either, shown clearly when she recklessly kissed Lucy one night while the other girl had been trying to patch up a wound on her face, though when Lucy refuses to bring it up afterwards, Meredith does the same, simply continuing to give herself false hope that maybe, just maybe, her friend liked her back, despite Meredith not being entirely sure if she was even good enough for Lucy in the first place. Lucy sits her down to talk about this later on, and upon being told that her friend could not reciprocate her feelings, Meredith is hurt, but takes the rejection well, content with any kind of relationship she held with the other woman, as long as they could be by each other's side in the end. She cares dearly for Lucy just like she cares for Jess and she considers her and the redhead the family she never really got the chance of having.

17816506?1664755302
Jessamy Kidd [ Best Friend ]

Friends since her early teens, Jess is another member of Meredith's found family and one of her closest friends, having met him through Lucy. When they were kids, Mer and Jess were often the ones getting into the most trouble in their little trio, both being rather rebellious, and it made the two partners in crime of some sort, even if their "crimes" were always just stupidly minor acts of rebellion. The two were always close, always playfully picking on each other or having each other's backs, and Jess quickly caught onto Mer's rough situation at home, and as a result would typically leave a window or door unlocked for Mer for any time she was kicked out, Jess' father never minding and always welcoming her with open arms. This made Jess' move to Scotland all the more devastating, and it only became worse when Jess suddenly cut contact with both her and Lucy, leaving the both of them heartbroken, but Lucy especially so. Lucy's hurt and heartbreak over the situation and Mer's own fear of abandonment caused her to blindly resent Jess for a long while to cope. She didn't want to resent him, and tried finding ways to justify the sudden ghosting, but simply couldn't help it. Nothing justified it to Meredith, who watched her best friend fall into despair over the loss, but fuck, she still ended up missing him terribly. So his sudden appearance back into their lives in college definitely left her confused and unsure how to react. She was rightfully angry at first, at first angry he would even dare show his face again after leaving them behind, but...Mer was always going to end up giving him another chance in the end, having missed him too much not to. And though it did take some time, she grew to forgive him and to see him as the partner in crime she'd had before...even if his relationship with Lucy made things a bit awkward at first.

4943300?1655439794
Amber Zaine [ Close Friend ]

Amber and Meredith have been close since high school, meeting around their freshman or sophomore year. While not as close as she is with Lucy and Jess, Meredith trusts Amber with a lot, and very much enjoys spending time with her as well. If she isn't with Lucy, Jess, or Cecil or off fucking around, she's most likely with Amber, whether they be catching up, gossiping, or getting into minor mischief together. They're surprisingly close regardless of their clashing personalities and dynamics, and Meredith cares about her greatly, especially as they seem to grow only closer in their later years of highschool and during college, when they both end up deciding to open up a tattoo parlour together based on their shared desires to become tattoo artists (something Meredith ends up realising partly due to Amber's interest in it).

48655406_vJC.jpg
Dion Quintero [ Close Friend ]

Though Dion is most definitely closer to Lucy, after Jess left their lives, Meredith welcomed Dion happily despite her initial defensiveness, afraid that she and Lucy might be abandoned once again. Dion's less-than-secret penchant for trouble works surprisingly well with Meredith's rebellious spirit, even if her antics can sometimes exasperate Dion in the same right. Regardless, the two seem to enjoy spending time together, even if a lot of their time spent together is filled with them bantering or playfully bickering. Mer trusts Dion with a lot, and genuinely cares for her, even if she happens to find her partner annoying! She'll tolerate him for her.

Meredith does not talk about her parents practically at all and if she does it's never without some form of snide tone. Her parents are politicians for their city and she does not get along with them well at all, that much is certain. Being raised under their roof (With her being openly out of the closet and her parents not only being radical Republicans but also extremely religious) she would frequently get into fights with her parents that would result in her being kicked out of the house, though she typically got this treatment for plenty of other things, such as drinking in the house or skipping church (considering Meredith typically began trying to get out of going as soon as she could drive). Due to this she often didn't go home at all and as well didnt]'t truly feel like she had a "home" to call for herself, hense why she searched for a found family so fervently. Once she turned nineteen and was finally kicked out for the final time she pretty much disowned herself from her family entirely without any hesitation, considering she'd been sure they'd have done the same to her once she'd moved out anyways. She despises them for several reasons, but them being the reason she has had so many issues with affection, trusting that people care for her, and with romance in general are some of the biggest, and it's something she will absolutely never forgive them for.

Story

Meredith was born as the only child to two politicians for the state, who of which are extremely religious Catholics and are extremely traditional in their views. She was raised with the intent of following her parent's footsteps and going into politics or at least law like them, to act and even look exactly like them, though from the start Meredith held a strong distaste for this idea. Though she started out in public elementary school, getting expelled from it for her constant trouble in the fifth grade led to her being stuck in a private Catholic school from 6th-7th grade, where she was promptly expelled right after finishing her 7th grade year for getting into a fight with another one of the students (This fight actually led to the scar on her cheek since she got shoved and busted it open on the edge of a bench, but I digress). For 8th grade onward, she was put back into public school due to her parents practically giving up on her, hoping that maybe, just maybe, she might mellow out eventually and be more willing to fall into their footsteps, though that time never came, and over time their methods simply went from attempted manipulation to constant arguments (and lets be real some slight verbal abuse, they're not good people at all), especially when Meredith came out as gay within months into her 8th grade year, fully realising at this point (especially after their lack of care for her facial wound months prior) that her parents did not care about her, so Meredith simply chose to stop caring as well. She'd live out her life on her own and the way she wanted, not the way some asshole Catholics wanted. And so she did.

Meredith, despite her insistence on being a loner from then on out, soon met one out of two of the people she'd end up calling family years later, Lucy Circe, through the girl sitting near her at lunch purely since Meredith typically sat on her own (since she was new and, by all means, nobody wanted to talk to the kid who had a scar on her face for some unknown reason). Meredith did NOT like this at first, though, considering she viewed it as an act of pity or as her getting patronized, and Meredith wanted nothing to do with this. This caused the two to butt heads for a bit, Meredith refusing to believe someone wanted to be nice to her with no ulterior motive (considering...her parents...yea), not realising that Lucy was just genuinely trying to be nice. The brief "rivalry" (as Meredith had chosen to dub it) ended with more of a whimper after the two got shoved into detention after unintentionally breaking something during an argument, Lucy's claim that she wasn't trying to pity her finally making Meredith see her act of kindness in a different light, and despite still being confused over it (being slightly cared about, I mean) she allowed herself to work at befriending Lucy since the other girl seemed genuinely interested in befriending her, which, of course, led to them becoming close friends solidly quickly, Lucy's best friend, Jessamy Kidd, coming into Meredith's life rather soon after that, the three quickly becoming a tight-knit group of friends, even if it took Meredith a bit of time to accept that Lucy and Adrian cared for her. Lucy and Jess were her first friends, after all, and because of that Meredith very quickly grew to care very deeply for them.

Sixteen was a turbulent year of Meredith's life, considering it was when she got her first car, her beat-up truck she found abandoned and fixed up herself, when she began getting kicked out of her house by her parents for "acting up"(which could be a whole menagerie of things), and when she began having flings as well, both out of boredom and just out of curiosity that later turned into a craving for touch and acknowledgement, not that her friends didn't give her that, but it was different, and Meredith being touch-starved didn't exactly help that, even if she had fun doing it. She quickly grew to be known around school for being a bit of a rebellious punk type, as well as for her tendency to sleep around since Meredith had no shame when it came to her expression of sexuality in general.

If sixteen was turbulent, though, seventeen was an absolute nightmare, after Jess, seemingly out of nowhere, announced he was moving at the beginning of senior year. This devastated Meredith, and especially Lucy, the two insisting he keep in touch, to keep their bond together despite the distance. But...when Jess did end up moving, he kept contact only for a bit before abruptly ghosting them both, which slowly but surely left Lucy devastated and heartbroken and Meredith confused and hurt, years of friendship abruptly washed away for seemingly...no reason. And despite his pain over it, Meredith fretted most over Lucy, who'd been deeply in love with Jess at this point, the two essentially leaning on each other as they coped with the loss, Mer eventually growing angered over it, feeling as if Jess had essentially abandoned them both for no reason, with no explanation as to why.

Meredith graduated high school surprisingly smoothly, and spent her summer and her freshman year of college off-campus, living with her parents still despite the very fast growing tension between her and the two. Things weren't going to stay solid for long, and that was only proven when, rather recklessly, over the summer after her first year of college, she got into an argument with them that led to her promptly disowning herself from her family...which led to her, of course, being expected to move out immediately. Thankfully, she had Lucy by her side, and with Lucy also leaving her family behind, the two were all the other had, essentially, for the roughest period of their lives. The two decided to rent an apartment off-campus together to live in alongside a girl Lucy had met during their freshman year of college; Dion, which finally gave Meredith a true break from her parent's presence, and she left them without a second thought, fully aware she'd likely never see them again.

Adulthood

During her sophomore year of college, Meredith switched majors, going from a music major to an art major after growing to dislike studying her major. While she still held a passion for hard rock an a lingering desire to make it a career, studying it in college more so led to her burning out rather than enjoying it, and she'd quickly discovered a fondness for body art after a fellow art major and friend of hers, Amber, suggested she try pursuing that. The two quickly grew a budding desire to possibly, in the future, open up a tattoo parlour together, and as a result, Mer avidly began pursuing art, finding herself enjoying studying that far more...for as much as Mer could enjoy a college course, that is.

Life becomes solidly normal for Meredith at this point, with her still rocking out in her free time, breaking rules, or stretching her limits all the same. With Lucy and Dion by her side and being a constant presence in her life, she was at her happiest, honestly. Later on in college, however, after an instance of Lucy caring for her while she'd been drunk and confused, Meredith grows to begin falling deeply for Lucy, though isn't sure on how to cope with it, having never been in love before and never feeling as if she could be in love due to her parent's relationship and treatment of her. This makes everything very confusing and difficult for Mer to cope with, and it only proceeded to get worse two months later when she'd been injured in a fight with a bully on campus, Kestrel. After stumbling back to their apartment bleeding from a knife slash to her left brow and lower eye, she'd called Lucy for help instinctively, knowing she wouldn't be able to treat it herself. While Lucy had patched her up, both a surge of impulsive emotion and the reminder of just how much Lucy cared for her pushed her to (again, impulsively) kiss her, though she almost immediately regretted this, very clearly shown when she'd never said anything about it again after it'd happened, refusing to speak on it. This...of course, would only proceed to become a bit of a trend as this arc continued, considering despite her worries over Lucy feeling uncomfortable around her, she bottled up her feelings, putting up a facade of false confidence instead, wanting to believe that there was still some chance that Lucy possibly liked her back.

After a few days, when a party is hosted at a student's mansion, Meredith, still keeping up this false air of confidence and, quite frankly, trying to act like everything was all normal and okay, has that rug promptly pulled right from under her feet when, while lingering by the drink table for most of the party, she finds Lucy far more drunk than she was ever used to seeing her. Concerned, they genuinely try to care for their friend while she's in her drunken state, though when Lucy mistakens her for Jess, who'd returned to America and found Lucy at this same party, and promptly admits her feelings to her (again, thinking Meredith was Jess the entire time), Meredith, assuming Lucy was talking to her, grows confused and hesitant, unsure whether to take her (again, very drunk) friend seriously, though, regardless, deciding to bite the bullet, she admits her own feelings...only to later find out that Lucy had thought she was an entirely different person. Lucy runs away from her as a result once Meredith promptly shuts down the situation, and, losing her in the crowd, Meredith is left alone when she ends up outside, more confused and even more upset than before. She's jolted out of her thoughts by a fellow student named Cecil, however, when the woman had come over to see what had happened. They talk for a bit, Cecil attempting to offer advice that Meredith, despite being conflicted on it, accepts, though are soon separated when the party abruptly comes to an end. Meredith ends the night conflicted and unsure of what to do next, and, again, this is something she decides not to talk about when Lucy returns home in the morning. Upon finding out that Jess had suddenly shown back up, Meredith confronts him, but assures him after ripping into him that she'd like to rekindle if there was a chance of it. That same day, Lucy confronts Meredith over her feelings, and upon admitting them and Lucy reluctantly admitting that she couldn't return them, Meredith resolves to get over her, valuing their tight bond far more than any lingering romantic feelings.

After an arc involving camping and further interactions with Cecil, who Mer was quickly growing to see as a friend and a solid distraction from her heartbreak, Lucy and Jess become an official item, and upon Meredith finding out, she promptly decides to cope with this by pulling away from Lucy for a bit. She wasn't doing this to hurt her, her reasoning simply being that she thought space would help her get over her jealousy, and due to her drifting away she quickly began spending more and more time with Cecil, since the other woman helped take her mind off her guilt and feelings, and Mer genuinely seemed to enjoy being around her...which, of course, only resulted in more conflicted feelings when as a result of them growing closer, Meredith began (very much unknowingly) falling for Cecil. She had, honestly, gotten over Lucy, sure, but due to her having barely any perception of her romantic feelings, she (at first), simply assumed she hadn't, when she'd actually just started feeling romantic feelings toward Cecil. Cecil, of course, also returns these feelings (though isn't exactly keen on admitting it), and over time as they continue to grow closer, a...relationship of sorts is formed, though the two don't put a label on it for quite a while despite it being pretty damn clear that they probably should. Regardless, during this, Lucy eventually confronts Meredith on her distance, and the two make up, Meredith finally managing to properly communicate her (well, at this point) past feelings and pushing it behind them. The distance had ended, eventually she and Cecil managed to put a label onto their relationship (or more so made them being an item/dating official).

Post Graduation

At some point after she graduates, after both being trained in body art and then later working at a local studio alongside Amber for a bit while they worked on starting up their own thing, after a while the two manage to get the means to start their own local parlour. She obviously keeps very much in touch with Lucy and Jess throughout this, and also continues her relationship with Cecil, their relationship evolving into marriage some point down the line. It's not exactly the dream of being a rockstar Mer had as a kid, but she's found herself being plenty happy with the career she chose instead, considering it also keeps her close in proximity to those she cares about.
