Suzuran

Suzuran is from a long family line of Areques born to serve a renowned noble family who have been uncontested for centuries in their land. They believed that progression is necessary for the country's survival and growth, and would fight any war to prove that. Just like any Areques, he has a human master he directly serves as their retainer. His master is a samurai descended from the noble family, who went to a foreign country to further his studies.

Suzuran didn't grow up with his brothers and sisters, so upon his return to their homeland he remained distant and disconnected to them. His arrogant nature didn't help with the disconnect either. Despite his poor behavior with his peers, he is known to be the best when it came to combat and protecting his comrades-at-arms on the battlefield.

He is very adept and able to use multiple type of weapons including the katana, bo staff, halberd, spear, and even hand-to-hand combat. While he prefers using his own katana that was forged by his master, he is able to use other weapons off the battlefield if he finds himself disarmed or when his current weapon is badly damaged.

Also serving the aforementioned noble family, Hitomi is a female Areques of the same age as him. She prefers to go by the name "Miyuki"; however he still calls her "Hitomi" despite her firm request to call her by her desired name. She is an astute lady of great skill and discipline, so Suzuran holds her in high regard among their peers. However despite his respect for her they act quite coldly (and at times violent) whenever they interact. Despite his obvious attraction towards her he refuses to express his true feelings.

Tomomi is Suzuran's distant relative who also serves the same noble family. Because of how scrawny and small the younger Areques was, Suzuran would often talk down on him and wouldn't hesitate to embarass him every chance he gets, and would bully him during spars. However, after losing to Tomomi once, Suzuran begrudgingly sees him as a worthy rival and has toned down in belittling him. He is also jealous of Tomomi since he is quite close to the girl he is fond of.
