Butterfly and Moth are a formidable duo in the Dreamscape, astral projecting as magical girls to fight against Nightmares and protect the veil between worlds. When Moth is captured by The One Below and falls into a deep sleep, Butterfly is tasked with training Bear, a new recruit, and rescuing her friend. As Butterfly and Bear piece together the clues to find Moth, they come to realize that what they have been fighting is not quite what it seems.

• Close range: Primarily functions as a bladed bo staff. The mirror end can cut through most materials
• Long range: Energy directed towards the mirror can be absorbed and redirected at a compounded amount
• Agility: Can summon a pair of door-sized mirrors that Butterfly (or anything physically linked to her) may use as a portal to cover distances quickly. The distance coverable between the two mirrors depends on her energy level.
• Finishing move: A finishing move of summoning a storm of mirrors that project light energy.

• Perfectionistic: A textbook type A personality, Butterfly dislikes giving less than her best in any given situation and expects the same of others. She can be harsh with those she views as lazy but is most critical of her own failures.
• Sassy: Tiny girl, big opinions. Butterfly isn't afraid to speak her mind, whether she's joking with others or holding her own in an argument.
• Optimistic: Although she is usually upbeat, Butterfly can be easily irritated when things don't go according to plan. Still, she alays believes that things will be okay and that setting things straight again is just another challenge.
• Headstrong: Butterfly's independence is backed by strong convictions but sometimes this can cause tunnel vision. She is slow to see when she is wrong but will quickly turn herself around once she does.
• Protective: Much of Butterfly's strength as a magical girl comes from a drive to protect her loved ones, even at her own expense. Her fuse is short when it comes to Bear's reckless behavior, which she worries will endanger him.
• Compassionate: Butterfly is easily swayed by her emotions and has trouble holding a grudge for long. She enjoys volunteer work and spends much of her spare time caring for animals at the local shelter or teaching dance classes at the community youth center.

Relationships

Magdalena Flores (Mother): Butterfly's mother works as a doctor at the city hospital. Despite much of her life being consumed by work, she cares for her daughter deeply and always serves as a pillar of support.
Enrique Flores (Father): Butterfly's parents divorced when she was in elementary school and she has had little contact with her father since. She receives the occasional birthday card on her birthday but otherwise has no relationship with him.
Alba (Grandmother): Alba is Butterfly's maternal grandmother who usually stays at home to take care of the animals and the household. Butterfly affectionately refers to her as abuelita ("little grandmother").

Moth: Friends since their preschool days, Butterfly and Moth are as close as sisters. Moth is the voice of reason among the two and helps keep Butterfly grounded. When Moth becomes comatose, Butterfly blames herself and vows to do all she can to rescue her.
Bear: At first, Butterfly is irritated by having to train Bear and manage his reckless approach to the Dreamscape. As they work together, Bear's easygoing nature helps Butterfly learn to take pressure off of herself and trust in others. She often answers his humor with her own sassiness.

Luis Castillo: Butterfly's first boyfriend and competitive dance partner, they met during their first year of high school and have been an item since. Butterfly's alter ego as a magical girl soon places a strain on their relationship, compounded further when she begins spending more time with Bear.

AUs

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: When Vanessa's face and body become horribly disfigured in a car accident, she is abandoned by her boyfriend and shunned by her peers. It is not until signing a contract with Myuubey that a world-renowned cosmetic surgeon takes note of her case and performs on her pro bono. Instead of accepting her, however, Vanessa's old friends criticize her artificial beauty. Her parents eventually allow Vanessa to live with her aunt and uncle in New York City so that she may attend school in a separate district and start anew. Unfortunately, her immediate popularity leaves her even more miserable than before as she attempts to maintain a new persona to match her new face. To complete her contract, she must fight witches alongside Mitsuki, Arianna, Sophia, and Faustus.

Animorphs: Takes place after the events of the main series. When Cassie assembles a team of morphers to pursue Jake's crew into space, Butterfly is the first to volunteer, due in no little part to her deep admiration -- and maybe more -- for Jake. Butterfly is a highly experienced soldier who is both admired and slightly feared by her colleagues because of her no-nonsense attitude and top-tier skills. Bear is a new recruit who is popular with the veterans because of his easygoing personality, quick thinking, and natural talent as an estreen. Butterfly's and Bear's battle morphs are a white Bengal tiger and a grizzly bear, respectively.
