Profile
Vain • Overcritical • reticent
"Though my heart may be shielded, my spirit yearns for connection."
Marlais comes from one of the wealthiest Houses in Elior. He is given attention constantly due to his 'perfect' demeanor. Marlais is the exact caricature of a knight in shining armor (minus the armor…) He can speak eloquently in situations when needed and can get on most people’s good sides when he decides to play the persona of this honorable and charming knight who hails from Elior. Though this comes off as an act as the actual Marlais is withdrawn, apprehensive and keeps to himself. He was raised to think highly of himself, putting those he deems unworthy below him and will make it apparent he does not like them, making this one of his negative traits that makes him come off as snobby though this is due to being born in a famous House. According to a certain person, Marlais is actually very lonely emotionally, yet is scared of being too attached out of fear. Sadly he is emotionally vulnerable and anything that is said in his favor can greatly be used against him.

Lore Background + Extra stuff
It is common in the higher Elior houses to marry out their social circle to prevent inbreeding. Marlais' father married a woman from Aerania as it relates to their mining business as their major work place used to be an old dragon's nest, as Aeranians openly praise and worship dragons rather than Elior's singular God. There is a stigma to marry people outside of Elior in the upper Houses as it is seen as 'tainting' the Eliorian blood as they believe to be holy people. Many children who are not purely Eliorian, are seen as lesser by the older folk and parents in Elior due to this social stigma.

"Our families have been intertwined for years, but there's more to it than that. It's business related but they've held each other afloat through thick and thin and I believe that can describe me and Ceda's relationship in a nutshell. Ceda is special, and our friendship means the world to me. During the years of an incident happening; I can't entirely blame her for distancing away from me. Not to sound too sappy but during that time,I missed her presence, and her infectious energy."
" 'Odin Eliseo'... Yes I know of the baby faced one. He is constantly the talk of Noel whenever we hang out together and I don't think he's caught on that I'm very annoyed by him being the topic of conversation at times. I understand he is the symbol of Elior but I don't particularly see anything outstanding about him, I don't get the reason for the alias name either... Everyone already knows who you are at this point. Admittedly, I would like to learn some tips for botany through him as he often has a strong flowery smell around him. It's just for Noel's sake though, to make the medication last longer than just a couple hours."
“That man from Galanis house? He seems very spineless, weak, not to mention I see him eyeing women at times in such disgusting manners. If I had to say at least one nice thing about him in return since he was able to get me and Ceda on talking terms again. He's pretty good at acting and controlling his voice, could hardly tell that was him when he does his imitations. Theater is very popular in Elior and I suppose without his House we wouldn't have entertainment, I should put in an anonymous request to ask him to perform as a jester in his next act haha.”
"The weird guy in relation to Celes..? I don't have much to say about him but he certainly has...eccentric ways of talking at times. I have to double take, since it sounds like he's flirting with me but the facial expression is so monotone so it's hard to actually read him at points.."
"The girl I saved from the village incident. She's a fiery one for sure, but she seems to keep in line whenever we speak. She tries to find ways to express her gratitude towards me but I find it a bit annoying at times especially when there's other women looking. It's not that I'm actively looking for their approval I just worry for her afterwards. She's very helpful when I have to go to the library to read into some books, she knows her stuff and is actively helpful to me."
