Honest, hardworking and capable- Merle is used to rough but rewarding work and enjoy it quite a lot. They can be a bit coarse but are actually quite caring.

Works and lives on their own on a farm near a desert. It's arid but irrigation and hard work can make anything possible. They have a small herd of cattle, and often get the help of wild dogs in the area to help herd in return for meat. Their pet snake is named Cas and they don't know whether Cas is male or female. So Merle figures that Cas is a good a name as any- Caspian if male, Cassie if female.
