History

Following the death of the gods of nature, the world has fallen into a state of disarray, and the world has slowly been trying to mend itself back together without divine intervention. It has only been a few years since signs of life have reemerged back into the earth, but it has been a steadily journey as even humans try to reinhabit the world once marred by natural disasters. WIP

Hunter

Runa is from a long line of hunters that brave the long months of winter. Her family has raised dogs from puppyhood, and into fine hounds bred for the conditions.

While this is true, they lead a much more magical life. In reality, they're actually one of the many shrine guardians that protect tombs of the gods to prevent their return as corrupted spectres. As the world wishes to disturb these tombs, the hunters often explore the lands in their own ways to protect various sections. One particular member of the Hiorth family, loyal followers to the deer god Hjort, is granted a crimson cloak along with their puppies of choice before being sent out to meet each local shrine before returning to perform larger duties at hand.

Oh Deer!

Another secret of the Hiorth family is indeed the cloak itself, but as one of the guardians of the gods' resting places, they often serve in another form during visits to the spirit world. Their patron god has granted them the ability to visit the divine ghosts by donning the cloak, and being transformed into a reindeer avatar. This form is shared amongst all elder children as it's passed down through the generations. The only differences that distinguishes the user are through any changes to the human body; such as scars, or missing limbs.

Reindeer form isn't mandatory all of the time, but it does require frequent use without a hound. After all, the hounds have been bred to sense spirits while their masters are in human form.

Of course there are other shrine guardians with similar abilities, but different accessories for each of their own personal avatars/ Some have animal companions, others use potions to see spirits, etc.
