Alois was 'born' into servitude of some extremely wealthy Humans-- one of their youngest of a large brood desperately wished for a cleanly, thoughtful companion who still had the joie-de-vivre that every little one welcomes in others.
Though the refinery his cheery companion's family exuded stayed with Alois as the Humans grew on, older, ever-changing in their bloodlines, the Bookling himself could not connect as well with anyone else as much as his first master. Regardless, Alois continues to be there at the manor he promised to oversee. His tasks are never-ending and he is content in this, as most Booklings are wont.

Though, times change, and Alois is not immune to the world's charms and changes. Nowadays, one would see Alois as elegant and refined as he first learned. Inwardly, Alois would personally admit in his 'age' that he is solely chugging on to have a good time... 

This Bookling has a hard time emoting fully after so many decades of introspection. More often than not he will let his actions speak on his behalf, even when he is incensed (though he isn't one to show such strong feeling, he does indeed feel)!
He also has an even harder time saying 'no' to the dynasty that raised him and put him to work (and continues to work him to this day)... Though most other Humans, as much as he respects them all, he may default to taking a more lax approach and get around to serving them when he sees fit. Other species, even less so does he exude that defaulting grace, and instead he can come off a little more playful and free-spirited without saying much at all.
