Biography
Masumi was born into a middle class family, and was the second child and only daughter. Being only one year younger than the eldest brother, they would practice sword fighting together daily with a hired tutor. Masumi was always a little bit better than her brother and that angered him to no end.
When the time for the Final Selection to become a slayer, her brother came up with this elaborate story in which he was terrified to go because he knew he would be killed without a doubt, and he was sure Masumi would be able to succeed. Masumi agreed to help her brother, and headed off for the exam. While she was away, her brother told their parents that she forced him to backdown so she could take the test, and that angered her father. Upon her return, rather than being celebrated for passing, she was ultimately disowned and told to never show her face again.
Going through a period of depression, she took on every reckless mission she could get her hands onto. Also during this period, she began to disguise herself as a male, cutting her once long hair short as an attempt to throw away her past self. Masumi also started wearing three inch lifts in her shoes to make herself appear taller.
Masumi met Chiharu on a mission and was the first person to show Masumi what it felt like to be accepted and loved once more. She began to feel more comfortable in her own skin, and began to accept the things that had happened to her as led to her fated meeting of Chiharu.
Breathing Style
Masumi’s blade can produce waves ranging from a calming breeze to freezing ice winds that can induce hypothermia. Just unsheathing her blade can drop the surrounding temperature. Masumi’s blade changes color similar to Lunar Phases, indicating her blades temperature.
First Style - 氷の風 ( Kōri no kaze ) - Icy Winds :
Masumi’s blade creates a chilling blast with sharp winds slicing the target.
Second Style - 極寒の旋風 ( Gokkan no senpū ) - Arctic Whirlwind :
Masumi’s blade creates a freezing whirlwind trapping her opponent.
Special Combo Style - 日食の爆発 ( Nisshoku no bakuhatsu ) - Solar Eclipse Blast :
After absorbing Chiharu’s fiery attack, Masumi’s blade changes form to a glowing icy hot blade that burns her target to death while giving them the feeling they are slowly freezing to death. A slow painless merciful death. This attack takes a massive toll on Masumi’s body, so it can only be used once, and normally is only used in a life and death situation.
