Profile

Description

Always optimistic and happy to help, Rhyss is someone who follows his heart first and foremost. He is honest, good-hearted and enthusiastic. His helpful nature can however get him in trouble sometimes, due to his extreme naivety. Rhyss isn’t the smartest kid and is easy to trust someone, willing to bet on the good of people before anything else. Rhyss is durable enough to take a hit because of it, may it be physical or mental, nothing stands in the way of his unending spirit.

Rhyss loves to stay active and likes to take advantage of Fargone’s expansive travel network. That’s why he’s often jogging around random places and meeting new people. Rhyss likes to make as many friends as possible and help out anyone in need, which has given him a lot of connections over the years. Most would describe Rhyss as a naïve kid with a heart of gold and maybe just a little too much energy.

His roots with his mother’s family from the Amazon called the Malka’i has previously been damaged by his mother’s leave to see the outside world with his father, however his overwhelming power and the skills he has learned from the people around him, as well as having saved the tribe from destruction have made him a respected member of the tribe.

Abilities

His powerset supports his lifestyle. Rhyss can generate an ancient energy, similar to how he generates adrenaline. Lara his dubbed it ‘Chaotic Energy’, but it’s also known as Malka’i energy. With this energy he’s able to make hardlight constructs, as well as energy projectiles.

His most signature example being his chaotic gauntlets and chaotic bullets; hardlight gauntlets that he can make appear around his hands and wrists, as well as tennis ball-sized projectiles of energy he’s able to shoot with multiple at the time. Of course, the amount of energy he can gain from this is far from unlimited. He only has a limited source of it. Whenever his abilities use up almost all Chaotic Energy in his blood, he can’t use any of these abilities anymore. This doesn’t mean his physical energy is used up, but it usually goes together, seeing as adrenaline can only do so much.

Rhyss is also trained in mixed martial arts, as well as a revised version of capoeira made by the Malka’i tribe to support adrenaline stimulation. With his body being enhanced with Malka’i energy, he has a far above average level of strength, endurance and dexterity.

His bracelets are an energy reserve for extra Chaotic Energy that isn’t being used. Whenever he is not using these abilities, the bracelet is slowly being charged, so it can be used for situations where it is needed.

Notable Comic Arcs:

  • Chaotic Rhyss’ Original Run (Chaotic Rhyss! #1-#22): Starting under the guise of the alias ‘Asirin’, Rhyss fights street crime on the streets of Fargone, that has recently started to increase. Rhyss is not experienced yet, and often fails to succeed in his heroic acts. When his best friend Derek quickly discerns his identity, he starts helping them out. Rhyss begins to understand his most important power is his friends, and often asks them out for help. He gets in a confrontation with Kapak, who’s trying to steal relics from the Fargone museum. Rhyss is able to stop him by revealing his identity, making Kapak erratic and drop his plan out of disorderly hate. Kapak is collecting enough Malka’i relics to use its power to bulldoze Malka’i village, the place that utterly rejected him when he was growing up. Rhyss eventually stops him during the finale, saving the village, and making Kapak his nemesis.
  • Far(from)Gone (Chaotic Rhyss! #113-134): A plotline where the hinted criminal activities in the industry sector of Fargone start back up. Factories are being used for smuggling and several traders have set up a plan together to hijack the entire city. All connections to and from the city get cut off, making Rhyss the only hero able to do anything to stop them. With the help of his friends, he manages to capture most of the criminals and stop the crime ring for the time being
  • Ultimate CRhyssis! (Chaotic Rhyss! #400-#410): Rhysses from alternate universes appear in the main timeline, having to stop one of the Rhysses, brainwashed by Malka’i corruption, from combining all the Malka’i universes in one to claim its combined ultimate power.
  •  Chaotic Defender (Chaotic Rhyss! #460-#500): Rhyss’ Call to War Arc. After Goddess tries to have her revenge by almost killing Rhyss’ closest friends, Rhyss detaches himself from almost all of his friends, hoping that will keep them away from harm. Rhyss faces his most deepest fears of bringing everyone to ruin by enthusiasm, but with the help of friends who he has supported through thick and thin before, he gets his spirit back, and realizes that his friends are more than willing to help out his cause, starting the Friend Force!
  • Chaos! Going Global! (Chaotic Rhyss! #520-#545): Malka’i relics that have been scattered all over the world have started to go beserk, making them appear as beasts. Rhyss gets an opportunity to apologize to all the friends he had tried to abandon by taking them on a road trip to reclaim and fight these relics Malka’i relics. All of his friends, as well as the heroes that they meet on the way, get to show their special worth, and accept Rhyss’ apology.
  • Oblivaeon/Schism (Chaotic Rhyss! #623-633): After a lot of hinting, it is revealed that the source of Chaotic Energy has gained a consciousness over the centuries, trying to hold back the corrupting forces of the energy. It is slowly becoming too much, but because of the current conflict, the consciousness overloads Rhyss with its last efforts, making Rhyss able to fight off many threats during the conflict. Rhyss knows however that after the conflict with Schism, the conflict of dealing with his own powers is about to begin.

Comic Notes (Can be expanded or retconned on whenever):

  • Starts out as the street hero Asirin in reference to a golden age comic series with the same name, but quickly dons this disguise
  • Explordinaire and Mr. Interest have a story with him in his own comic series where they both try to be his father figure. Rhyss corrects them at the end, stating he already has a father figure: his actual father.
  • Becomes friends with Codename: Rabbit, who teaches him how to shoot a gun and help the other heroes out. Rabbit leaves soon afterwards though, making him one of the only parties knowing that he’s there behind the scenes for a while.
  • Accidentally turns The Goddess into a mess of her own fleshy substance. The goddess takes revenge on Rhyss at the start of Call To War, where she brings his friends in lethal danger. This causes Rhyss to distance himself from his friends, making the two nemeses, but also causing Rhyss to go edgy for a while, taking up the mantle of Chaotic Defender Rhyss, where he fights crime on his own, avoiding help from others.
  • Knows Virus, since they have teamed up together in Cure Negativity where Rhyss tries to make Virus feel a bit better about himself. Later when Defender Rhyss happens, Virus returns the favour in Retake Positivity.
  • With Virus being able to push Rhyss back into the light, Rabbit scaring Rhyss off from being edgy for real and probably several other heroes that had a word with him, Rhyss starts to think he might not be taking the right course of action. The final straw is when Rhyss gets captured by a corrupted Kapak, and his Friend Force! (who in turn gets created by this event) save him from his lonely demise. His friends give him a stern talking to, and Rhyss falls back into his old friend-loving habits.
  • Rhyss is a main member of the Friend Force! He mostly takes a backseat in this series, since it focuses more on his friends.
  • At some point, Alina, Derek and Rhyss play a lot of Life’s Symphony and help out with some trouble the game is having. Rhyss plays as the ‘Druidic Warrior’ class.
  • During Oblivaeon, Alina confesses her true feelings to Rhyss. They start a relationship.
