No one knows anymore who Cedar was before it became, well. This. A huge, hulking beast of a blacksmith, blindly hitting the anvil day in, day out, grinding its tools down to dust and reforging them and wearing them down again, over and over and over and over and-
It never leaves the forge, and the fire in the bellows never stops burning, hot and high and bright. It doesn't appear to sleep, or rest, or do anything but forge, really. Tirelessly, heavily, slow and blind and grinding. Endlessly.

It can be communicated with, to an extend. People bring it work, and it does the work. It is very good at what it does, forges swords and tools and nails and hammers, knives and horsehoes, belt-buckles and chainmail. It will make everything and doesn't ask for payment, and it never seems to run out of steel, or coal, or wood. People bring it gifts, anyway, tokens of gratitude, food and flowers, leather and water, warm blankets and trinkets. Sometimes it eats, sometimes it acknowledges gifts, sometimes it doesn't.
It never speaks.

It has - quite obviously - been heavily cursed at some point in its life, but no one knows the shape of its curse. How it got to where it is, what it needs to do to get out again, what the give and take of it is. Can it be reversed, can it be broken? Will it end? No one knows, Cedar least of all. It doesn't seem to know anything anymore, really, except how to work metal.
It seems tired.

• Cedar's design is absolutely not set in stone. In fact, I encourage people to take the general concept and just run with it! There's very few constants to its design:
• It is a big, hulking beast of a blacksmith.
• It lives in a very cold climate.
• It has a fuckoff huge forging hammer.
• Its eyes are a very pale color and don't focus.
• Everything else? Run with it!
