Kuya's Links
Leaving a century of life as a nomad behind him, Kuya started living with Ouyang when his parents were "lost at sea", and he was taken in by Ouyang's mentor. He was wary of Ouyang at first and the two of them always fought after getting on each other's nerves. Eventually over the years together, their animosity simmered into rivalry, then into friendship as they grew closer and Kuya opened up to Ouyang about his loneliness and uncertainty about ever being able to belong anywhere.
Kuya believes that he and Ouyang are similar in that sense - Ouyang, who never felt like he fit in with humans or half-orcs as a mixed kid; he himself was never truly welcome in the smaller villages of humans for whom time passed differently. In Ouyang, he found another place to belong, another home.
Kuya would search to the ends of the realm if it meant seeing Ouyang again. While their shared dream was to journey the world together, to explore the strange unknowns, all Kuya ever wanted was simply to be with him. He doesn't know it yet, but he does love Ouyang, more than anything else.
Though he initially thought of Kuya as an annoying nuisance, he's grown to love Kuya without question.
Ouyang lost his home and his parents at a young age, and was made to question the very nature of the dream he'd grown up believing in. He felt lost for a very long time until they met. Coming to see Kuya as his new family, partner, rival and best friend, Ouyang learnt a lot of empathy for others through him.
Through sharing stories of his past, Ouyang soon rekindled the flames of his buried ambition to explore the realm, this time hoping to do so with Kuya by his side.
Their difference in lifespan causes Ouyang in particular a lot of grief. His wish is for them to someday journey together, wherever they may roam. Unbeknownst to Kuya, he also harbors a deep desire to live for as long as Kuya does, and will do almost anything for the sake of that goal.
