BATTLE EDUCATION

Finnley is not well equipped to fight on the battlefield, but he learned how to heal from a young age. He wasn't great at it, and only really began to master it as a teenager. He decides to enter the Royal Academy to enhance his healing abilities under a proper education. He also picked up archery here.

WEAPON SKILL

For as frail as he seems, Finnley can actually send the arrow much further than you'd think. When he's not healing, he's shooting off arrows to secure key points in battlefields. His archery could use some work, but he's surprisingly talented with it, for being a healer first and foremost.

NO WEAPON SKILL

Finnley is absolutely a sitting duck. Once you close the gap between himself and you, it's quite easy to secure your kill. On the flip side, being a healer, if somebody has broke into the back lines then it would mean the battle isn't going well to begin with.

PERSONALITY

Calm. Soft. Social.

Finnley has a very centered spirit, and it's hard to throw him off balance. He never seems to be upset or frazzled, and tries to use his time for bettering himself. These traits would make you think he's shy, but it's quite the opposite. He's actually very social, and talks to others with ease- no matter what you're like. He seems to aim for the quieter types, the ones that push others away. They don't really know why, but assume it's just him trying to be friendly.

He's also driven by an unknown factor inside himself to right wrongs. Finnley won't stand for injustice, and specifically injustices around those he cares about. Still, he can't solve everybody's problems, so tries to focus on those closest to him. 

About

Finnley Belanger was born to a prostitute who did not know who the father was, and given up for adoption as an infant. He has never met any of his birth family, and isn't terribly concerned with it, either. He was shuffled from orphanage to orphanage, mostly because he would hide from potential adopters. At first, it was out of childish fears. As he grew older, it was because he wanted the younger kids to get a family. 

Eventually, a commoner family asked for an older child, and picked the young teen Finnley. He spent a few years with them, but couldn't really find himself settling in. Once he was of age, he declared he was going to join the Royal Academy. He loves his family, but it's hard to see them as his true family. They're more like an intimate orphanage to him. Deep down, he just wants to find a place to belong- and he's hoping to find his path at the Royal Academy.

Relationships

Aries Roelle [ love interest ]

Finnley approached Aries with full intention of learning how to be a better archer. It took a few tries, but eventually he got Aries to not only relent, but to start talking with him. Finnley is used to talking with people with little connection, so it was easy to ignore the awkward silence and pauses. His easygoing attitude slowly wins Aries over, and Finnley finds himself searching for Aries before others. At times, he catches himself blushing. Still though, he wants to be by Aries' side- even if it's just as friends.

Azriel Demont [ friend ]

Finnley and Azriel become unlikely friends, for lack of a better word. It takes some time through the story, but the two are linked in a way neither truly understand or could be aware of. Because of these past lives that bind them, the two actually find it much easier to converse than initially thought. Finnley sees that Azriel is a person who needs somebody to pull back the curtain to see the full picture. He doesn't think he can do it, but he can at least provide solace in that somebody wants to be his friend. Though Azriel doesn't go looking for Finnley, the two are seen talking and enjoying each other's company.

Celine Sterling [ friend ]

Celine is also bound by a link they don't quite understand. Finnley feels both connected deeply and absolutely disconnected from her. Like something binds them, but also makes them very different. Thankfully, they themselves are both very mild, friendly people and so their admittedly forced relationship still worked out in the end. Finnley respects her greatly, and thinks it's incredible such a soft girl raised herself so high in the ranks of both skill and intelligence.
