Synell grew up away from her Xaela peers as a refugee in western Thanalan. She began studying thaumaturgy in Ul'dah with the hope that she would never again be made to feel helpless. Synell is a reserved person who often only speaks as necessary, but is far from shy; rather sometimes she can be too blunt, due to her strong feelings, and finds anger to be an equally powerful motivator as love.
