Bio

Being a captain requires maintaining order, and maintaining order requires strict adherence to the rules as well as enforcing them. There should be no one better suited for this than Lorenzo, theoretically. However, reality doesn’t always abide by theories. Armed with exceptional piloting skills, sharp academic intellect, and the Interstellar Forces handbook, he encounters the harsh realization that the crew he’s been entrusted with is full of… people. Lorenzo has never been good with those. Still, social ineptitude is not enough to deter this captain from leading his team, even if he has to do it from the safety of his room!

Voice Claim

Tetsu Inada (usually when I try to read something that Lorenzo would say, it ends up sounding like Obama in my head ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) ...Also SquaDus??? (Even though I already had him listed for Emil. Very versatile voice)

Personality

It’s hard for others to connect with Lorenzo, but he doesn’t mind as much as they do. He enjoys solitude. Not everyone is as interested in the inner workings and history of the Interstellar Forces as he, in fact, very few people are. He has been made very aware of that growing up. Not being able to understand others’ feelings well is also an obstacle when it comes to friendship, but that’s okay, he has more important things to worry about. Devoting oneself entirely to the IF is much easier when there’s no social life to interfere. Unfortunately, concerned teachers, other adults, and even his brother weren’t entirely on board with that, and kept trying to force him into relationships he wanted no part in. If anything, it made him self-conscious. Locking others out has become an art form and a safety precaution, but for someone not interested in being popular, he’s quite concerned with appearances. The idea of showing any weakness or imperfection to outsiders is unthinkable; he prides himself in having a strong mind, body, and spirit. He also likes to think he’s prepared for anything, but tends to panic when things don’t go as planned. It’s a good thing he’s naturally stoic.

Backstory

Lorenzo understood math, he understood science, literature, sports, and even writing, though he's not fond of it. Outside of that, he felt like there were few things he understood. Some things were fine, like space; trying to understand space is interesting, fun, and something he wanted to do when he grew up.  Many other things were frustrating. Why did his family have to move to space? Why did his parents divorce Why are other people so weird? No answers satisfied him and he wasn't interested in looking for more; he just wished things would stop changing so much. Rules... rules were constant. They were constant, and they were always correct, even if they didn't always make sense to his brother... or him sometimes. Being born to a prominent figure in the Interstellar Forces Lorenzo found himself lucky. He got to contemplate space and had many rules with which to govern himself; exploring space as a member of the IF became his purpose in life. He put all his effort into excelling at the Interstellar Forces Prep Academy until he was top of his class, and his reward came in the form of being offered to be the captain of an experimental ship that would tour the Solar System. Naturally, he accepted.

Relationships

Leon - "He's average." Lorenzo considers Leon's abilities to be average, and he and his flying partner tend to be more accident prone than the other teams, but he can see that Leon is dedicated to the IF almost as much as he is. He appreciates having a crew member like that aboard. Secretly, he also finds it funny how much he compliments Emil, knowing how easily the latter is affected by compliments.

Mia - "She's...trying." Mia and her flying partner are not the easiest to manage, and Lorenzo has some misgivings about her due to a misunderstanding, but otherwise, she's average.

Roxie - "She's an odd one..." Roxie makes Lorenzo the most self-conscious about his social skills because she always tries to strike up conversation with him. He's not entirely sure what she wants from him and is terrified.

Jun - "Ranger Kim might be more qualified to do my job than I am. I worry I may not be the only one who realizes this." Jun is the eldest member on the ship, the second-most experienced (besides Aiden, who is definitely not captain material), trustworthy, and everyone looks up to them...including Lorenzo. He even feels like he'd be comfortable confiding in Jun, but that would be forcing them to overstep their boundaries.

Aiden - "He seems like he might be a problem." Lorenzo's overheard Aiden express displeasure with authority in general, and to Lorenzo, that spells trouble. He's not so much afraid of dealing with Aiden, but he is a little worried about how Emil might react if the situation comes up. Knowing Emil, he might be too lenient on Aiden and let him get away with rule-breaking activity.

Angelo - "Suspicious..." He does his job okay, but there is absolutely no way this child is 18. Lorenzo is trying to see if he can get any information suggesting fudged documents.

Emil - "I wish he were a little bit more serious about his job, but honestly I don't know what I'd do without him."  Lorenzo doesn't always understand his younger brother, in fact, he rarely does. Despite this, Emil is one of the few people whose company he enjoys and one of the fewer people whom he trusts. Emil's health and safety are important to Lorenzo. He tries to make sure Emil gets enough sleep and doesn't subsist on microwaved junk food, even if that advice is ignored. The two might butt heads on Emil's lack of formality, but Lorenzo realizes the importance of Emil establishing a good connection with the other crew members. Sometimes, this makes him wonder if Emil would be better suited for being a captain.

Trivia and Headcanons Made Canon

  • "I feel that Lorenzo has barely any time for his hobbies, mainly due to how focused he is on his job. Whenever he gets an opportunity for a break, he typically spends it working as well. As such, Lorenzo appears to always be stressed in some way or form, and people usually have to encourage him to take a step back and focus on something else." by KittyKnight
  • The cape he wears is not part of the uniform. No one on his ship knows this, not even Emil.
