Brulee (broo-lay) spent a lot of his formative years believing love was something you had to earn every single day from someone who was not willing to easily give it...if at all. His childhood was full of dutiful respect, obligations, and trusting that everything would pay off in the future. Medusir was a cruel father, choosing to spend most of his time in the confines of his private study. Despite not being around, he had eyes and ears on Brulee at all times and required the boy to always do as he said. It made for a miserable life for both of them and one that Brulee would leave after he was granted the role of Commander among King George's army forces.

After escaping from his life, Brulee was introduced to a world where he could see the respect and admiration in the eyes of others as they looked at him. He was thought of in high regards by those he lead as someone with bravery, conviction, a sharp mind, and a trustworthy soul. King George is someone whom Brulee would give his life for in an instant, feeling as if he owes all his current happiness directly back to the benevolent ruler. It was also through King George that Brulee met his other half. A surly Lynx who seemed to have disdain for most in the world. Yet someone who felt familiar and comforting to Brulee. It took a long time for the two to be on terms where they could have a casual conversation.

Queso hailed from a life of access, which afforded him the ability to learn many new languages and use this skill to earn a set at the King's table as a cultural diplomat. This history of knowledge and learning was what sparked a friendship between the two, as their love of books was too strong to ignore. As Queso would travel to other countries, he would bring back fascinating trinkets and books to gift to his friend, Brulee. And likewise, when without company, Brulee would read from the royal Library and bring the books he found particularly enticing back to Queso's room for him to read upon his return.

Eventually, secret book readings turned into more as the two realized and acted on their developing feelings. However they feel it is best for the Kingdom if the two were to remain secret in their affairs. They meet outside the confines of the castle walls for intimate moments stolen away between them, often reading into the late hours of the night. .
