Chloe

SUMMARY

Chloe is a friendly, upbeat, easily-distracted powerhouse who adores her buds but undergoes a strange experience that leaves her changed forever.

PERSONALITY

Chloe is the loud, friendly, punchy, in-your-face best friend that is damned to have a good time. Chloe is energetic and bombastic. Most people know this by spending about 2 minutes in her company. While she may come across as a brute or forceful, she is anything but intending harm. She sees the world as a playground and theme park. She's almost always willing to try new things and loves when things fight back. If it requires a punch or a yell to work, she can get it to work.

People will think of Chloe as a binary sort of individual. She’s got a two color scarf, two color hair and eyebrows, two color shirts and shoes, etc. But also in terms of friends. She is either your best friend and you both love each other to death or you see her as a terrible person, lacking basic human empathy. Her constant teasing and playing around drives certain people to see her like that. At the end of the day she gets along with most people, whether they may know it or not.

In contrast to Mullet's sullen nature, Miss Cunningham is usually in her best mood and when she's not, she's usually angry about something. But she gets it out immediately, but usually physically. She loves hanging out with him, even if sometimes it's hard. Her fellow upper, Amy, is a multiplier of good moods. While she thinks he needs to assert himself, she loves Darren very much and would end worlds if someone were to hurt him. Chloe is an open book save for her sexuality. No one knows what the fuck "ragesexual" means.

HISTORY

Her early childhood, where she used to live in a county with lots of open grass, gave Chloe her adventuring ...tick. She would explore old shitty houses and sheds and abandoned plots. She would do so with wonder and excitement, not fear. And she would come home with bruises and cuts. But they would heal. And her adventures would continue. She couldn’t help but love the new. Anything old bored her.

Her parents trusted her to simply not stray too far and to always be back before dinner. She would do so. Albeit stretching the returning home time a little bit each day. But, still, her parents trusted her. Her relations with her parents are strong and her personality is obvious from where it came. Growing up, Chloe had it quite good. Her parents were very supportive and loving of their firebrand daughter. Her dad was quite the mobile parent while Chloe grew up, always switching homes and jobs. Her mother went from homemaker to employee of various companies multiple times. Each time they moved, Chloe would have to change friends and say goodbye to certain ones. She usually maintained them by going over to their house and just popping in. But eventually they moved far enough away, like a few counties away, such that there was no way to talk to them reasonably. Her mother picked up an early riser job (think waking at 4AM) and her dad at a normal time (9 to 5) so that by the time they got home, they couldn’t drive across counties for a little play date.

Then she eventually moved further west, further into suburban areas where she came to live in Cattersville. She was 14 when this happened, so only a few years before the main events in chapter 1. Chloe’s dad finally settled down. And Chloe’s mom became a homemaker. By this time though, her kid-like wonder fell to the wayside as she matured. As much as Chloe can mature, to be fair. But her energy didn’t. So she still focused on school. Before moving to Cattersville, Chloe compensated by making friends wherever she went. As such, it was not hard for her to make friends as she got accustomed to making them. She did her best to learn everything she could about her friends. She made fast friends, quickly. But as such, she never really made best friends.

And in school, now high school at this point, she once again began to try to make friends with various people in class. But the one that struck her. The on group she had to make friends with, was Mullet’s. She saw how much fun they had with each other. And oddly, just how much they really did love each other. It was apparent from the first conversation she overheard. Chloe is emotionally smart so she can see when people enjoy each other’s company. And these three did. They had a small little group that just seemed to be the best place to be. So one day, she walked up to them and wanted to hang out.

Amy, being Amy, was absolutely blooming with excitement when Chloe said she wanted to hang out with the other three. She was the very first to accept Chloe and they have been the best gal pals ever since. Darren couldn’t speak his joy as he had more fears of meeting new people back then but his heart sang as Chloe really did seem to be a good, fun person. She respected Darren and tried to learn all his interests even if she didn’t understand them. Chloe has learned to respect his boundaries and treat him far more maturely than the other two. They, while vastly different in personalities, have learned how to deal with each other in a healthy, loving way. Their relationship is the glue that holds the group together.

But Mullet was the jewel of the gang she wanted to appreciate. Describing a friendship with Mullet is hard. You can’t even ask Chloe herself. She just knows she loves it. During hard times, this love is tested. No one, no friend she ever met or had, was like him. He was different. Beforehand, she would be the one to “maintain” the friendship and provide most of the energy into the relationship. And they were usually not able to match her energy or understand her. They didn’t “get” Chloe. Not to the extent that Mullet does. She’s normally the one who puts more emotion into the relationship. Now she can barely match his emotional energy. Their interaction is also much deeper than anything she’s had before. Chloe never really learned how to emotionally connect before. Friends, to her, were people you hung out with and went on adventures with, not sit and talk with.

But again, she loves the new. So she loves this. And while she may have the experience of exploring, having fun and making friends, no adventure prepared her for the adventure that is Mullet. Or The City. But, she’s willing to tackle it head on. She’d go crazy if the adventure wasn’t fun.
