Ishik Vohgan is one of the gods who claimed the sea as her territory. She protects those who respectfully sail across and embraces those who get lost at sea and grants them a second chance at life beneath the surface. Even if she's the most well known sea god, very few landdwellers know of her existence.

As one of the few other human gods, she always dreamt of becoming a part of the sea, and upon discovering her powers she worked on it until she could become a true guardian. Her benevolence and kindness are a weakness of hers as people have abused it many times before, but she stays true to her principle that every soul deserves another chance.

Under her wing are the demons who were banished to the ocean under the rule of Tomius. By chance they became her followers and grew out to be her principal army in charge of searching for the lost.

Body

Vohgan is a fairly tall god, standing 187cm or 6'1 tall, and she has a weight of 80kg or 176lbs. Her skin is a very pale teal and has a slimy texture with a slight hint of a smooth scaly surface. She's pretty heavy set with muscular arms and legs and wide hips and shoulders.

Years of living in the water and using her magic to idealise her own body have given her some fish-like attributes. She's got dark teal fins on both of her elbows and a very long fin running over the entire length of her spine. Her ears consist of two parts; a membrane part on the top and a fin part on the bottom. On her outer thighs, upper arms, shoulders, and cheeks she has scaly additions yellow-orange in colour. These scales point outwards and are only connected to the body by the base. The skin where the scales connect is tinted yellow as well. She's got various dark markings on her body, most notably under the eyes, over her mouth, on her back and sides, on her fingers, and on her legs.

Both her hands and her feet only have three fingers left, of which one a thumb, and the thumb of the feet is located on the back of the heel. Between the fingers and toes of the hands and feet a semi-transparent membrane aids with swimming, though its size makes her a slow swimmer. Her feet are slightly longer than usual.

Face

Her eyes' pupils are oval in shape and dark brown in colour and her sclera are a yellow-brown. She has a human face shape, but her nose is flattened but still has a broad bridge and her teeth are all very sharp. Her mouth is on the V-shaped side, giving the impression her upper lip is somewhat split.

Hair

She's got waist long wavy hair of a vibrant teal colour. It's worn loose and is prone to get stuck onto things underwater, but she still prefers it this way.

Clothes

She doesn't wear a lot of clothes to make swimming easier. Around her chest she wears a top covering her breasts and around her waist she has a metal band with pants covering her lower parts. Her wrists are covered in black metal guards that end in a point on the backside of the hands.

Followers

All of Vohgan's followers are granted a few unique properties, among all of her oceanic allies they gain the ability to live underwater and eventually grow gills. The entire body becomes more fit for underwater living. A fairly unique type of magic is granted to her followers: the power to create and control a type of essence that shines bright to illuminate the dark depths they inhabit.

The lost sailors

The lost sailors were Vohgan's first followers and the first people she took under her care when she learned how to track down people who entered the sea's waters. Many of these are drowned sailors and marooned crewmen who were at the brink of death before Vohgan reached out to them and revitalised them. She allowed these lost souls to tap into her own powers in order to survive underwater without the required bodies to naturally do so.

Before she had the Mokra, she personally visited each one of them and brought them to a safe space she had created beforehand, where eventually a society was built where these sailors could live out the rest of their days in peace and die a natural death at the end of their run. Even though they were saved from death once, their ageing couldn't be stopped with her magic and they could still fall prey to the dangers of the ocean. Vohgan greatly extended their lifespan regardless, most sailors living for 300 years after they first entered society.

Time changed these sailors, giving them new body features such as gills, fins, scales, and noses and tongues that were more optimal for living underwater. They were the first bearers of the essence of light which lit a way through the dark depths they inhabited. The older sailors even grew in muscle mass as gills took over from magic and they could provide for their own oxygen.

Not every lost sailor decided to live in Vohgan's societies and some of them just left the place in search of a way to regain their life on the surface, or even more, death. There isn't much Vohgan can do about them, although they do still weaken her as they still tap into her powers without giving her the power of their allegiance to fuel her own magical pools. Some even led attacks on her societies for reasons she never understood, but regardless she does anything to protect them.

The Mokra

The Mokra are a subset of demons that were cursed by the god Tomius to become both immortal and to rot alive as a way to keep the highly sinful from fuelling Hell's fires while still punishing them for their deeds. These people were abandoned in the middle of the ocean to keep them somewhere they couldn't do wrong, where they'd eventually get exhausted and sink to the bottom, only to lie there in an undying suffocation induced coma.

When Vohgan first stumbled upon one of these lost demons, attracted by the lingering smell of blood and rot, she was surprised she was unable to sense this creature's presence in her territory despite him still being alive. She brought him to the surface where she attempted for him to swear allegiance, a way to try out if she was able to grant him her blessing at all, and she was right: this doomed soul was able to tap into her own energy so that he could at least submerge and live in the underwater societies without having to surface every few minutes for air.

She gave the man her own power to track down others of his kind and he got a clear vision of hundreds more across the world. She taught him how he could invite other banished to receive her blessing to survive underwater, and he was sent on his way to retrieve every single one of those doomed. These new followers gained the ability to track down others who were lost or drowning just like the first one, and upon learning this Vohgan named them the Mokra, her trackers, and she promised them she would make sure that every single person who was doomed to this grim fate would get a second chance to live by her side as a Mokra.

Over time, the army grew and the oceanic energy that fuelled the Mokra's bodies transformed them to be more fit for underwater living. The rot was partially lifted to become bearable and scales started growing over their body. They grew functional gills, so the energy that was previously used for breathing now could fuel the rest of the body and caused them to buff up their muscles to make them stronger swimmers. They grew out to be the fastest swimmers among the aquatic humanoids, guided by their efficient light essence.

The landdwellers

The landdwellers are Vohgan's loyal followers on the surface. They are the only one of her followers who never were among those who drowned and most of them learned about Vohgan's existence by their interest in the ocean. Vohgan allowed them to swear allegiance to become an elite and they became responsible for education on the surface. Her distaste of war led her to tasking the landdwellers to do what they could to stop the naval forces from all their bloodshed and to stop them from polluting her waters with their violence and magic.

Landdwellers don't get any changes but they are protected from drowning by Vohgan's magic and sometimes even visit the underwater societies if they have accomplished great things. They are Vohgan's primary ambassadors.
