Bobby is a secondary character of Le Club des Treize. He is a high school student from the Lycée Steve Kadmon (Steve Kadmon high school). Bobby also happens to be the unexpected leader of a militant atheist group which only has three members: the Atheistic Trinity.
Indeed, Bobby is a pretty calm and shy teen who doesn't really like to be the center of attention, as well as the epitome of the "edgy atheist kid". He can also be condescending or sarcastic towards acquaintances, and a bit of a know-it-all.

The Atheistic Trinity (also called "The Atheist Angels" by outsiders because of the winged sweaters of its members) is a secret group founded by Bobby and his friends, Serah and Arthur. Bobby and Serah are childhood friends; Arthur joined their friend group much later, as they originally grew up in Great Britain.
Even if Bobby is its official leader, he often prefers to let Serah promote the group. Still, he cannot help but stay as the head of the trio. The Atheistic Trinity do not only discuss and fight for acknowledgement and acceptance of atheist youth in their society; they also are generally opposed to discrimination and disdain towards minors, which make them allies to Jesus' Thirteen Club, who also try to rebel against adults.

Bobby comes from a devout evangelist family which doesn't really accept his unbelief. His brothers and sisters makes fun of him (their quarrels even led to an eye injury), and his parents call him a "lost soul", or "possessed by the devil". Forced to go to church, he slowly became a militant atheist and decided to found the group in order to have a space to share his experiences and struggles.
Bobby is often torn between his desire to keep a good image, and his wish to be able to fully rebel against his family. He bought The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins in secret, and reads it anytime he feels down. He also tends to jokingly call himself the Antichrist.

Because of his upbringing and militantism, Bobby knows many things about religion and mythology, often more than believers themselves. One of his favourite things to do is to quote the most uncanny parts of the Bible, which he knows by heart, usually to prove a point, or just for fun.
Bobby also loves Italian and Japanese food; pasta and ramen noodles are his guilty pleasure. He wants to become a cook, although he would have wished to do theology studies if they weren't targeted at believers only in his country. (Spoiler: it's France. But his parents come from the Democratic Republic of the Congo; it's not like he feels connected to its culture, however. He hates when people ask him "where he comes from" as soon as they meet him...)

Bobby owns a pet parrot, who he named Mosey. His family also owns a fish tank filled with exotic fishes, which he finds very relaxing to observe.
At school, Bobby has chosen to study English, German and Italian as foreign languages. Additionally, he knows some random Japanese words and grammar facts thanks to the anime he occasionally watches. He also tends to prefer literature to science; he is mostly interested in classic literature, as modern book series usually aren't his thing. Additionally, he enjoys metal music greatly; Alestorm is by far his favourite band.

Trivia

  • This character is based on the Flying Spaghetti Monster, the deity of the parody religion of Pastafarianism, created by Bobby Henderson. He is the leader of the Atheistic Trinity because the parody belief system he is based on is usually the most well-known.
  • Bobby's eyepatch comes from the fact that, according to Pastafarianism, pirates are the original Pastafarians, chosen people and/or divine beings.

Design notes

  • Bobby is taller than Serah and Arthur. Similary to his friends, he wears an oversized winged hoodie. The two things attached to it look like meatballs.
  • The things on his shorts are pockets who looks like instant noodles! They read "ラーメン"/"Ramen". He also has a lot of band-aids on his legs!
