A by-the-book definition of an angel on Earth.
“Azarias” is the human identity of the archangel Raphaël; a compassionate young man who tends to disappear as quietly as he appears. He loves this form and feeling alive as a whole. Meeting and interacting with humans without them feeling intimidated by his angelic nature is so exciting! Being as gentle, warm and welcoming as his true self, his presence is generally appreciated.
Azarias has no set year of birth; as he likes to visit Earth on different periods of history (this includes the darkest periods you can think of), he often has to change it.
In the year 192X, he stumbled across Henri, the guardian angel Harahel in disguise, in the streets of Paris. Azarias is well aware of Henri’s cold nature and liking for alcohol and cigarettes, but doesn’t mind at all. Indeed, Azarias is even more laid-back and casual than his angelic form, as he doesn’t have to act as the Prince of Heaven he is.
Even as Azarias, Raphaël’s healing and comforting aura remains and still attracts animals and young children, even though it is way weaker. He also kept his healing touch from his angelic form, but has to be really careful when using it so his real identity won’t be discovered. Because of that, he prefers to use human methods; he’s very knowledgeable when it comes to them, and uses the fact he’s a medical student as an explanation.
Tobie is his beloved adoptive brother, and they like to explore nature together. Azarias has taught a lot of survival skills to him; who knows when they'll come in handy?
- Unlike other angels, Raphaël likes to keep his human form for several days non-stop, be it when he’s on a mission or just for fun. As he has no home on Earth, he tends to stays in hotels for as many nights as he needs to.
- Azarias is surprisingly very observant of Jewish holidays, despite his status as an angel making it unnecessary; he just enjoys them. This went became even more relevant after he adopted Tobie, as he feels it brings them closer. His favourite holiday is Shavuot.
- Although he is no virtuoso, he has an affinity for wind instruments; he's an okay flute player.
- Azarias tends to stay vague when talking about his "past" or "background" with people who are not aware of his true nature. If pressed on the matter, he will usually claim that his hometown is Geishouse.
